Really nice little Pub that's super close to the Village area but far enough from Canada Street to avoid some of the crowd. It's open for lunch during the week year round, making it a rare establishment in this area. They have a winter gear room for snowmobilers, which is a nice extra given it's proximity to the trails. We went for lunch on a Monday and found it surprisingly busy. The bar was hopping, and the single waitress had her hands full with the seven or so tables, but did a very good job providing prompt and friendly service. The food was pretty darn good, I had the Cubano, which is their take on the Cuban sandwich. It was pretty straight forward and huge, but it is served on a single folded-over piece of grilled flatbread and the pickles are chopped and mixed with a mustard aioli. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was accompanied by a tremendous serving of chips. My wife had the smokehouse club, and it gargantuan. I thoroughly enjoyed watching her trying to work out how to actually eat the thing. It was also accompanied by the same giant serving of chips. She could barely manage to finish half the sandwich and less than a quarter of the fries; it was easily enough for two meals. Both kids had hot dogs with fries, they looked good before they disappeared quickly. They seemed to have some really good drink specials, but seeing as we were about to set off on a five hour drive, we opted for coffee. All in all, this was one of the better places I've eaten at in Lake George, and would be interested to see what it looks like during the tourist season. We'll definitely stop by this summer...
Read moreI've been coming to the Garrison with my parents for years! Can always count on them for great food, and a laid-back atmosphere. Brought my husband here for the first-time last week, he LOVED the food. The spinach and artichoke dip, with the little toasted breads, is to DIE FOR. Only thing I would mention, on the visit last week, the service wasn't amazing. The waitress was very nice, but seemed like she was new to the restaurant/new to service industry work, just because we had to ask for refills every time, and then it would take 10 minutes to bring them back. But again, she was very sweet and had a great demeanor! Other thing is when we walked in, no one else was waiting to be seated. The hostess was on her phone and drinking a starbucks drink, looked up at us when we walked in, I said hello, and she looked back down at her phone and continued drinking her drink for another 30 seconds, before finally just saying "3?" without even looking up. Again, not a deal breaker, as this place holds a special place in my heart, and the food is...
Read moreFound this sports bar looking restaurant while on a trip at lake george. First thing I noticed was their excessive collection of college flags. There were insane amount of flags from colleges all over the country and it took up about half the ceiling of the place. The flag collection gave the place a pretty chic feeling. Now for the food, the Buck Mountain Burger is a must. It's easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. The bourbon glaze and carmelized mushrooms and onions give it the most unique test. It's too bad they don't have any location anywhere else since the business is privately owned. We also had the Prospect Mountain Burger which is served with cole slaw and Sarah's Salmon. They have a good collection of beers on tap and bottle. The chocolate lava cake wasn't all that impressive. Probably not the best I've ever had but pretty decent. Last but not least, the service we got was amazing. The server was friendly and efficient and food arrived pretty fast after ordering. The place had a very local beach vibe...
