We Love going to the beach in Lake George... It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL... and we try to get there at least 5 times or more a year, as we absolutely LOVE it... The only thing that upsets us is people throwing balls or frisbees near us and near other people as well, who are trying to relax and enjoy the day. We all don't want to have to worry about getting hit by an object... Some people playing just don't have any respect, and will stand right next to others that are laying there tanning and start throwing a ball back and forth basically right over the person tanning... So can you please have a designated area for that, possibly way over towards the end of the beach where there are never any lifeguards or people tanning... so these people that want to play, don't interrupt everyone else's peacefulness... but can still have fun themselves... and possibly can you have a security guard walk along the beach to keep an eye on things and who could also include enforcing that rule to only play ball in the designated area... That would be great... Thanks...

If you’re looking to get good views and good photos of Lake George, this is a good beach to get them at. It’s $10 to park, but realistically if you walk a bit you can park on the main road for $2 per hour. So if you’re just wanting some quick pics, this is easily 5 starts. My reasoning for 3 starts is honestly the lifeguards and the restricted swimming here. As for swimming, the reviews don’t lie about the lifeguards. They’re very strict about where people can swim. The bouies barely go above your waist (I’m 5’4”) so there’s really no “swimming” if you’re an adult. For kids it’s great! But adults? No. They also close off areas of the beach if there’s no lifeguard. We went on a rather warmer day and only one section was closed despite them having more lifeguards on duty. The other lifeguards not at a station were sitting in the office on their phones (I counted 3 of them). If it weren’t for the strict restrictions for swimming this would have gotten 5 stars. You can literally walk 5 minutes towards Canada street and there’s another beach with no bouies where you can swim wherever. I had an infant, so it would have been nice if the further end of the beach were open so we didn’t feel so crowded. If you open the beach for the day, and it’s a hot day… you should probably have the whole beach open.

There is a $10 parking fee to get access to the beach. But considering the location and the inconvenience of parking at any other place in this area, $10 is well worthy. However, the beach amenities are all closed and out service. There are no showers (can you imagine?) no running water to rinse the sand off your feet and, on top of everything, they close the bathrooms and locker rooms 30 minutes before the beach is closed (beach is closed by 6:00 pm). In addition, for some bizarre reason, the city of Lake George, thought that implementing a fence barrier around the beach was a great idea for social distance. Now it looks like a prison in Alcatraz (I am not kidding!). Once inside the beach, around 4:45 pm the lifeguards make an announcement that a section of the beach is closed and off limits to all the children wading in it. There is no explanation given as to why they do it. (unless, of course, they are trying to go home early). It was aggravating for many people and families at the beach. This was our first visit to Lake George, and unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. They need to improve the experience by removing the fence immediately, open the bathroom showers and keep the beach open until closing time.

They did a great job with social distancing. The only thing i wish they had open that they didn't were shower (which is understandable) and the feet wash station (not so understandable)...but i imagine that was a plumbing issue where they could only turn off both not one or the other. We got there 1/2 an hour before opening, waited in line and got in and were able to find a spot on the beach that was away from other individuals. There were 3 life guards and they were able to open most (if not all) of the swimming area so if wasn't crowded in the water. Overall a good time and well organized.

Beautiful views. Too bad one cannot simply swim where one wants. The lifeguards are always stressing out as soon as someone puts their foot outside of the approved zone. They are constantly blowing their whistles. People were openly stating this is the only beach where you’re not allowed to have fun. Honestly, at this point it would be far better to simply post signs that if you swim outside of the marked zone you are responsible for your own safety. Parking is $10. I won’t go back and would recommend finding a beach where you can just swim when and where you like!

There is a $10 all day parking cost, and right now there is a limit due to Covid. Get there early. Especially if it’s the weekend. There are bathrooms and a park across the street. The beach is not too far from a bunch of attractions and right off of the main strip of LGV. It’s a ton of fun as you watch the boats and parasails. Parking tends to go fast too. A fun spot for families, not too much coverage from the sun so bring the UV protection. Enjoy!
