We had a wonderful, late lunch today! Stopped off the Interstate 87 headed north and decided to stop at Exit 18 towards Poughkeepsie, NY because the service plaza was slammed full. We ended up finding this hidden gem, Orale’ Mexican Restaurant in Paltz, NY. We ordered a combination (beef taco, cheese enchilada and shredded beef burrito) plate to share with a traditional taco on the side. Great food! Friendly staff. Met the owner, Norberto and had a great conversation after our meal. Authentic Mexican food served hot and fresh. The place was beautifully decorated and clean. Javier was our waiter, service was great. Can’t say enough good things about the place! Love a very welcoming environment when we stop to get out of the hustle and bustle of a long drive. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ THANK YOU!

Last week we were driving around and I was hungry so we decided to stop at this little place. Glad we did!!! We sat at the bar. Norberto the owner and bartender approached us really quick and made us feel welcomed. The drinks were phenomenal. I had the enchiladas my husband had the beef soup everything was exactly what we needed authentic Mexican food and the prices are really fair. Good food, good drinks & good people. I'm glad that I ended up here and not in a big chain restaurant.

This place feels homey. Great for big groups of people, or small groups. There is a bar area. The food was good. It took a while, but that was fine because we were not in a rush . It was good. I like the empanadas. The tacos felt super Americanized, but it was fine. Had some combo platters that gave you a taste of a few things. Margaritas were cheap!

I felt customer service can improve. Server truly didn't know dishes ingredients etc. I did get a combo and a carnitas taco. Combo had 1 Chile relleno, 1 enchilada suiza 1 enchilada Verde. The chille rello was average not too overpowering for flavor bit bland for ppl who enjoy overly seasoned meal. Enchilada Suiza not my favorite bland I couldn't Tell difference in sauce possibly got mixed with other next to it as at first I actually thought it was all enchiladas as chille relleno was tiny. Also I asked for no rice they forgot and gave me rice anyways I wanted more beans. The beans truly no flavor it seems they either get canned and mash them or not season it much. Chips and salsa served st first chips bit stale sauce seems liked jar tomatoe sauce maybe they at some choped onion and more cilantro possibly 🤔 The taco was not my favorite it is tiny taco for like a a super light eater I like big tortilla tacos meat was dry not tasty I felt it was tad hard on some pieces like it could have not been freshly made. 😅 Overall I took a while to review as I wasn't sure of how fresh it was . However Overall I was fine with my stomach didn't get sick happy bout that. But I believe huge room for improvement but for the area it is situated this place may be considered fair and "it is what's available type...

Like another reviewer, this rating is for the food only - service was fine.

Let's start with what I consider staples - rice and beans. The rice was super dry while the beans were swimming, but both were utterly flavorless and thanks to the moisture in the beans the consistency was terrible in the mouth. I've literally never had worse. Even when I've had subpar rice & beans I've usually eaten at least half of it, but after one bite of these I completely left them alone. This really bothers me because if you can't turn out good staples then it feels like you don't even respect or understand the food you're making.

The enchilada had better flavor, but the mole sauce was . . . not saucy? Like it was on the food, but no drips of it anywhere? Maybe they were just using it sparingly, but geez. So this was dry and they were small (over 2/3 of the plate were inedible rice and beans).

And to top it all off there was a dead fly stuck to the wall by my daughter's head. Unfortunately, I won't ever be visiting here again to see if maybe they were just having an off day because I was so spectacularly disappointed...

The staff were great, so my rating has nothing to do with the staff. It's the food. There are several Mexican restaurants in New Paltz and this is one of the worst ones.

The food is bland and straddles the line between Mexican American and just American. We ordered combos to try a bit of everything. By default, the combo tacos are hard shell with ground beef. They seemed to be supermarket taco mix with extra tomato. The enchilada was just so much unflavored tomato and cheese it was like I was eating manicotti. The tostada was flavorless and topped with iceberg lettuce, a bland garnish on a bland plate. Even the guac lacked any hint of lime or Cilantro.

I ordered a margarita. It was completely unremarkable but strong. Once again, our server was wonderful and we were seated quickly, so staff experience was great. But if you want Mexican food, I literally recommend any other place in town or at least just go to the supermarket and get a taco mix because I promise you'll have the same...
