UPDATE 5/22/24: We stopped again for dinner at Maxwell Station during a recent weekend visit to Olcott. They had a fairly large crowd that day, but they appeared to be understaffed as I saw only one woman doing all of the cooking in the kitchen. She was a true one-person-show as she was also taking orders and serving meals to customers seated outside on the deck, like us. Unfortunately, they ran out of chicken wings earlier that day, so we had to order something else instead. We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich & fries, and a double order of chicken fingers plus beverages. Even though we did have a wait for our food, both meals were served very hot and were really delicious. Both portion sizes were very large for the price, and were a bargain compared to what we paid for two similar meals at a restaurant somewhere else two nights earlier. We ended up taking leftovers home for another meal. Our total bill was around $29, very reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food. Even though our visit here went very well, we felt sorry for the woman (Elissa??) doing the cooking, serving, etc., so a big shout-out and "thank you" to her for her efforts. We understood that she was working as fast as she could to get food cooked and served, so the wait for our meals was not her fault. The food and prices here are good, but the owner/manager needs to step up their efforts on adequate staffing as that appears to be their weakest point. I have to believe that if Elissa (the cook) ever left this restaurant, the owner would have a lot of angry customers waiting a long time for service or food, or both. In spite of that, we'll continue to visit here and support this restaurant when we're in the area. Thanks for reading.
AUGUST 2023: We've eaten at Maxwell Station Restaurant a number of times during our regular visits to Olcott Beach, but we sometimes wonder if maybe it's the best kept secret in Olcott. The weather was absolutely perfect on Saturday and we really enjoyed an excellent dinner on the outdoor deck at this restaurant. We both ordered the chicken fingers and sweet potato fries. The chicken fingers were delicious; crispy, tasty, and not at all oily. The portion sizes are big. A single serving of (three) chicken fingers doesn't sound like a lot of food, but three of them are probably enough for most people. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly and crispy. Our food was delicious, but our server Lily was simply amazing. Very pleasant, engaging, courteous, and very attentive, checking back with us several times during our meal to see how everything was or if we needed anything else. Both the food and the service were outstanding! Our check for two double orders of chicken fingers, one double order of sweet potato fries, and two beverages totaled $34, a bargain considering the amount of food we had left over and took home with us. Everything was flawless and absolutely no complaints. We've ordered their burgers during previous visits and they're also delicious, and reasonably...
Read moreWe saw an add on facebook for National Chicken Wing day with a bunch of different restaurants and decided to try this place out as they were offering $0.50 chicken wings. We arrived and were kind of condused what door to walk into. But once we figured it out, we walked in and it felt like we were in a flea market from 1970.. it was actually pretty cool. We then got inside the bar and took a seat. There was about 5 people at the bar, and 6 people at tables. Took us about 10 minuts to finally be setved but after that it was great. We each ordered a burger and some wings. The burger for as plain as it was (cheese and bacon) was one of Theee best burgers ive ever had. It hit the spot. The wings were very good too, came out crispy just like i asked for. We will 100% be back here for more food/drinks in the future.. maybe just walk around with a duster though so the cob webs dont fall in peoples food while...
Read moreWent for dinner on a Monday night which conveniently was .50 wing night. they are for a variety of flavors and preparations for the wings which were great and I tried the House sauce and medium. Both were good with the house sauce being the stand out for me. It sort of had a honey sweetness to it but I can’t pin down one of the other flavors there. I could of taken the wings a bit crispier, but if I were to return I'd just asked for that next time. Despite how busy it was and a special for the night, it didn’t take long for the wings to come out.
Also had a beer which was cheap. My service experience was pretty standard. I ordered at the bar and my food was brought to my table. They did check in on me at the table and I just paid at the bar when I was done eating. Note this place...
