Caffe Tazza — Restaurant in Town of North Dansville

I've been here twice. Usually I give restaurants a fair shake, it's a tough industry - however this place just wasn't it for me. First time I went there, the wings were noticeably old - possibly expired. The rest of the food was alright. Service was kinda slow but it was fairly busy so that's no big deal.

Second time I go here a few months later, it's us and one other couple. Drinks took 10 minutes to get from ordering, the appetizer came out almost a half hour later and all we ordered were burgers and potato skins. Meanwhile, the kitchen door on the patio had off-shift workers coming in and out throughout our time there. The appetizer was fine but again, hamburger meat smelled old and mushrooms had that going-bad-fishy smell to them. Once we were given the check, 20 minutes passed before I got up and went inside to just hand it to the waitress. Our whole stay in a dead restaurant was an hour and a half, maybe 15 minutes spent eating.

I get places are short staffed, but this place wasn’t. 4 + separate employees walked into the back kitchen in street clothes and only one server was staffed. We eat here quite often and normally it is very good. I think they may have had a change in management or something as tonight there were all very young employees and both of our meals were incorrect. We brought it to thei waitresses attention and she did offer to redo my pizza but I was ok removing an item. My husband ordered artichokes and they put anchovies on instead. This we sent back and asked to be removed from the bill which they did however you would think being regulars and making both meals wrong they might have offered a drink or something. Cafe Tazza is a valuable addition to Dansville's Main Street. This bar/restaurant/ woodfire pizza shop all in one is conveniently located next door to the Sugar Bowl, a sister business, so feel free to order coffee from that specialty shop with your dinner. The chicken pesto pizza and the "Bianca" white pizza are personal favorites. Check the hours of operation before heading out, though. Cafe Tazza has limited hours if operation and is not open every night of the week. They also don't open for lunch, so you'll have to wait for...
