Fortune East — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

Ive been coming to this place for years and although the Chinese food is well made, the staff have a much less than respectful demeanor towards their customers. Almost every time I go there they are rude. I’ll start with todays experience. I ordered on the phone to pick up in their location. When me and my girlfriend arrived to pick up the food 20 minutes later, the owner made us wait another ten minutes while He answered phone call after phone call taking orders even though our order was ready and waiting. Finally after ten minutes of waiting and walking towards the exit he finally stopped answering the phone and assisted us. When we got home the order was wrong. The time before that I ordered over the phone and went twenty minutes later to find out they didn’t even make our food yet because they forgot. Was recommended this place by friends and felt reassured by the 4 star rating. The food quality was extremely poor. Ordered shrimp and chicken fried rice. Rice was stale and tasteless. Appeared to be days old rice, definitely not freshly made. Ordered chicken with broccoli as a safe choice. The chicken was rubbery and hard to chew- could not finish the meal. Only thing that was edible was the sesame chicken which was deep fried and breaded and coated in sauce- hard to mess up. Edit: So while much of what I wrote remains true, they no longer have the same rich soy laden fried rice they used to and the quality has taken a slight dive. It is no longer my go to, but still makes good food. I hope the quality improves This is a traditional Chinese take out spot in NY and personally, it's my favorite in the area. They have good quality and when coupled with the options and prices, along with lunch and dinner combination options, makes it a wonderful place to go.
