Vincent's is an interesting local place. It's a Pizzeria but it's a local eatery. Their slices are large and for $3+ per slice, well worth it! Their Pizza sauce is spot on! Not sour, not sweet, not bitter or salty. They use a generous amount of whole-milk Mozzarella to give it the right amount of gooey-ness. While most places offer an 18" pie, I would guess theirs is about 20-22 inches. In other words, their slices are way above average.
Their specialty slices are actually pretty good. They are made fresh, as you order them, they assemble it. They are not giving you premade, cold specialty slices that will dry out the moment it hits the oven.
Their meat rice balls and other appetizers are surprisingly good too. Alas their entrees are where it comes down to if you want to find out about the whole "ristorante" title. For the most part I do agree with their food. The red sauce is a variation of their pizza sauce, but it is the pizza sauce. Don't get me wrong. I feel the way they prepare their red sauce is pretty good actually.
They have a few other standard sauces as well, such as their lemon wine butter which is fine but I cannot rate it too high as I feel it is lacking. I personally use a chicken stock for those base sauces, they do not. To me this lacks body and a gravy without body is simply just food that does not make you run back for seconds,
I have not tried any of their cream-based sauces as I am not a fan of cream-based sauces, but I know I will need to in order to give them a fair shake in my reviews, so expect an edit.
I am reducing what I believed would be a 4-star review down to a 3-star review because I have noticed that the amount of protein served per dish will vary based on the dish and that level of inconsistency concerns me. In specific, Chicken Parmesan provides more chicken than Chicken & Artichokes. About twice the amount of Chicken and the Chicken & Artichokes costs slightly more (for cracking open a can of quartered Artichoke hearts and throwing in about 1/2 without rinsing them). Not sure I am comfortable with that, but I do love Artichokes. Also the Chicken & Artichokes, the chicken is slightly overcooked and always a bit tough.
I know reducing 1 star because of 1 dish is petty of me, but overall consistency is really important to me. At least make the chicken properly and not overcooked. I am tempted to try a few other dishes as well to see if the reduced portion size is inherent amongst their dishes which lack the name Parmesan. Maybe I will try the eggplant, who knows.
Nonetheless, their Pizza is stellar and I would gladly order from them...
Read moreWas in the Albertson,NY area and heard good things about this place, so thought let's try it. My wife and kids had 3 different slices of Pizza, and were pleased. While I ordered the Eggplant Rollatini. Which is stuffed eggplant with ricotta filling. My meal came with a soup and thought I'd get the Pasta and Broccoli soup. Waited 45 minutes and no bread or soup. Asked about the status of my meal it finally showed up 10 minutes later. The rollatini was flat and with ham. Yes the menu says rollatini has ham but I had asked for it to be removed from my dish and was not. Was very disappointed with my food. Service was poor. Would not recommend.
Yes I paid for the rest of the meal the sodas and beers in full. No one said perhaps we could be...
Read moreI wish I can give this place negative stars. My children, grandmother, and I ate here for a quick lunch today, Each of them had a regular slice. I had a salad slice. I was picking out some bruised looking olives and noticed a dead roach on the slice. DISGUSTING. The manager apologized and gave me back all of my money. I didn’t make a big deal about it at the moment to respect the patrons that were actually enjoying their lunch. Never been more disgusted in my life. Felt sick to my stomach all afternoon thinking about it. It all happened so fast that I forgot to take a picture of...
