The most mediocre Halal Mexican has arrived to Hicksville! No, I'm not talking about Taco Bell, but I am talking about Guac Time!
Now, if you follow us, you know that we have a thing for... I would say a man crush on.. Moho Mexican Grill . But we are not afraid to test the waters, especially if it's in our backyard!
Guacš„Time recently opened up in Hicksville, NY and it will do really well. Why? Location! Location! Location! You're getting some mediocre Halal Mexican Food in an area that does not have much competition from other halal Mexican restaurants. So, yes, this will do very well. Good for them!
They opened up in the same location as Amira's Steakhouse, you know, the one where you truly had to be "ameer" (rich) to visit. Hey listen, we tried to help them, but you know, we don't have the thousands and thousands of followers on FB so they didn't care about us. But they did care about the ones that do and guess what? They closed and lost money.
Anyway, moving on. So I am not sure who is training the workers at Guac Time. The rule number one seems to be "GIVE HALF OF THE PORTION SIZE! CHARGE THEM THE FULL PRICE!" I asked for ground beef nachos and brother literally throws a few dabs of ground beef on the nachos, so I had to ask for 'extra protein' just to get a fair/normal amount.
Listen, let me talk to you fam. If you are Moho good, sure, charge me more because it's worth it. But if you are mediocre good, don't charge me for extra protein when your usual serving was utterly pathetic. What the heck is wrong with you?! $15 to get a decent plate of nachos with ultra-grounded beef?! Come on man!
All the fat man anger aside, it was okay. The ground beef is grounded to hell, but it's okay. I think they would do better by not grounding it so much.. let it enjoy itself a little, don't beat that meat so much. Just saying... A few more pounds never hurt anyone... More cushion for the pushin'? I don't know what I'm talking about anymore.. so I'll just move on..
The hard shell tacos were good. I liked that they didn't use the generic hard shell tacos. The steak is fine, but gotta have that fresh. Can't wait to take it home because it will get chewy.
The quesadilla was also great, my wife loved it. Although the workers may need to be told not to ask the customers to put any sauces inside the quesadillas. I appreciate it, but you should not put the sauces into the quesadillas before it's grilled and pressed. It will mess it up - on the side, always. Look at us, trying to help businesses succeed with some real advice and not some false encouragement. #HG #ifykyk #justaskamiras #justaskblubabylon #justaskchinesekitchen
Don't @ me! You know it's true you sheep! What's that? Masta would get upset? Hmm...
Anyway, back to Guacš„Time. It's decent. It doesn't negate my craving for some real and authentic Mexican food, but it's good enough for a quick bite to appease the fat culo inside me.
So quick summary. Mediocre Halal Mexican in an area with no competition. Great location. Gets the job done. Has a lot of potential. Needs to stop being so cheap with portion size (not just me, go read the reviews on Google), need to not put sauces before the quesadillas are grilled/pressed, needs to not ground the beef too much so it doesn't become a mush, and that's about it.
This can easily be a one of the best halal Mexican brand in Long Island and NYC, but they would have to make some improvements. As it is, it's a decent option for halal Mexican. Best of luck to them!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI truly love this place and appreciate supporting halal Muslim businesses, but unfortunately, their customer service needs improvement. My Uber Eats order arrived without any of the sauces I specifically added! I even wrote a note asking for extra sauces because, as we all know, Mexican food without sauces is like fries without ketchup ā it really changes the experience.
We called the store immediately to let them know about the mistake, but the only solution offered was for us to drive there and pick up the sauces ourselves. This was frustrating, especially since we paid a premium for delivery through Uber Eats. No one wants to drive just to pick up sauces! Why would they use Uber Eats in the first place then?
When we asked if there could be any sort of compensation or credit for the mistake, the response was a dollar refund. Thatās far from the level of customer service I expect. Guac Time, I love your food, but you need to step up your customer service game. Itās also worth mentioning that the staff member I spoke with didnāt seem very friendly or willing to help, which left a sour taste after an...

The wide selection of menu options, including vegetarian and vegan dishes, ensured that there was something for everyone. The service was excellent, with prompt and attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was also inviting, with a clean and well-decorated space that was perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. Overall, my experience at Guac Time was memorable and left me wanting to return.
