A Hidden Gem: The Delightful Afghani Restaurant and Its Welcoming Owner
In a world filled with countless dining options, there are few places that truly feel like home. Nestled in a quiet corner of the city, the Afghani restaurant I recently visited is one such hidden gem. From the moment you step inside, you are enveloped by a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects the rich culture of Afghanistan. The food is nothing short of exceptional, and the kindness of the owner makes the experience even more memorable.
The heart of the restaurant lies in its authentic and delicious menu. Each dish is crafted with care, combining traditional Afghan spices with fresh, high-quality ingredients. From the tender, perfectly spiced kebabs to the fragrant and fluffy qabuli pulao, every bite tells a story of culinary tradition. The mantu, delicate dumplings filled with savory meat and topped with yogurt sauce, is a personal favorite, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors. The portions are generous, and the food is cooked with such precision that it leaves you craving more long after the meal is over.
But what truly sets this restaurant apart is the hospitality of the owner. His passion for his craft is evident in the way he greets every customer with a smile and takes the time to make them feel welcome. He often walks from table to table, checking in with diners to ensure everything is perfect and sharing stories about the origins of the dishes. His genuine warmth creates a sense of community that is rare to find in many dining establishments today.
The ambiance of the restaurant complements the experience beautifully. Traditional Afghan music plays softly in the background, and the decor is a blend of earthy tones, intricate patterns, and cultural artifacts that transport you to another world. It’s a place where you can take your time, savor the food, and feel truly at ease.
This Afghani restaurant is more than just a place to eat—it’s a place where you can connect with a vibrant culture and experience the warmth of human connection. The incredible food speaks to the owner’s dedication to preserving and sharing his heritage, while his kind and welcoming nature leaves a lasting impression. Whether you’re looking for a casual meal or a special night out, this hidden gem deserves a spot at the top of your list.
For those who have yet to visit, I can only say: go. Let the rich aromas, bold flavors, and heartfelt hospitality whisk you away to a world where food is not just nourishment but a celebration of culture and community. You...
Read moreI am Brooklyn born and raised and have a hard time believing anything can be that great outside of NYC. My Long Island friends said that it was time to introduce me to their favorite restaurant so I could stop saying Long Island didn't have good food options. In my world of ratings, it has to be life changing or it's nothing to write home about. In other worlds, 5 or 1 star/s (I only review to highly recommend or warn folks about a place). My friends did the ordering and got a HUGE combo plate with all different types of meats--chicken, lamb, and beef in kebab and kofta form. I usually don't like kebabs because they tend to be on the dry, flavorless side, but they've got talent here because whatever they did, it was moist and flavorful. I also get really picky about random chewy things that surprise you in koftas, but didn't experience that here so that was a relief. The rice was well-cooked and flavorful given the platter and I LOVED the white and green sauces. Poured over everything (and took extra to go since we had a lot of leftovers). We also had salad, samosas (beef and chicken) and mante (beef and chicken), which we also delicious with green/white sauce. These dishes made for awesome leftovers. Didn't dry up or change in flavor upon reheat, so I got to enjoy that for 2 more days! The restaurant let my friends bring in cake, which was nice and they played a happy birthday song that actually included and perfectly pronounced my name. I didn't even know you could do that! That was a pleasant surprise. But, on top of that, the restaurant had tres leches cake, which is my favorite of all time. Some places have some that are meh, but this one tasted great! Milky, but not overly sweet. Then we wrapped up with some tea. We enjoyed our time so much, I think we ended up staying longer than we thought we would. We also happened to meet the owner that day. He was so attentive, made great menu recommendations, and was overall super nice and down to Earth! He was so nice to us (and funny!). We had a blast and I enjoyed my birthday celebration there. It's pretty chill and laid back and they don't have all these annoying rules (like charging you for bringing a cake). I may be a restaurant snob, but FINE. Long Island has AN option. And, it's Kebab House. No further Long Island restaurant ratings until I'm introduced to another life changer! And, hey. It's long Island. There was plenty of parking, so no worries there! Will definitely return! Thank you for an...
Read moreIf you are planning to go to this restaurant with your family, please RE-CONSIDER!! WORST WAITRESS WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. Here is how we were treated at this restaurant. A night out with family is something we all look forward to but this experience can become a nightmare for various reasons especially if you are not treated well at a restaurant. This is exactly what happened to us when 15 of us decided to have dinner at Afghan Kebab House in Hicksville. We had reserved a table prior to arriving. Upon our arrival the waitress said she had arranged two separate table for us. We kindly requested the waitress to give us one big table (which by the way was vacant) so our entire family can sit together. Waitress responded in an extremely rude & disturbed manner and said, "THIS IS ALL I HAVE FOR YOU, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SIT HERE, YOU CAN LEAVE!". Now in the party of 15 I not only had my family but I also had my in laws with me, behavior like this in front of anyone is not acceptable especially not in front of your in laws family. This waitress was non cooperative and filled with rudeness. I know she is only an employee of the restaurant so obviously she doesn't realizes how bad of an impact such behavior can cost the business. We tried working with this waitress but she refused to work with us, she wouldn't listen to anything we were saying, we were polite and respectful meanwhile she was behaving the exact opposite. She was loud (almost yelling at us for not listening to her), her attitude was like a teenager. We had no choice but to walk out of the restaurant.
If you are an owner of this restaurant and reading this please, do something about this waitress, she is hurting your business in ways you can't even imagine. I do not know her name nor I need to, but she is usually behind the register (she's short and skinny). In my opinion, this waitress should not only be fired for insubordination but prosecuted in a court for...
