Bikanervala – Hicksville
As a family from Delhi with a deep love for Indian street food, we were excited to see Bikanervala open in our neighborhood. We visited during its first week, greeted by a warm ambiance and helpful, well-trained staff—a promising start.
Bhature & Choley: The bhature were fluffy and light, reminding us of Delhi breakfasts, and the choley had the rich, spiced flavor that suits a Punjabi palate. However, the portion of choley was too small—barely enough for one bhatura, leaving the second without accompaniment. Rating: 4/5
Pani Puri: Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing dish. The puris were made from wheat but lacked the light, crisp texture expected, with some edges hard to chew. The pani, served in two bowls of plain red and green liquid, was flavorless and lacked the tang, spice, and freshness of mint, coriander, and tamarind that make pani puri exciting. Visually and taste-wise, it fell far short of the vibrant, flavorful golgappas we’ve enjoyed at places like Bengali Sweets. Rating: 1/5
Raj Kachori: Another letdown. The shell lacked crunch, and the yogurt was bland rather than creamy and tangy. An authentic raj kachori is a balance of textures and flavors—crisp puri, spiced fillings, sweet-and-tangy chutneys, and refreshing curd—but here, that magic was missing. Rating: 2/5 If people are giving better ratings, that clearly means inconsistency.
Overall: By naming Bikanervala it won't work. I wonder why the company opened a franchise when can't keep with the consistency as in India. There is some potential especially with dishes like bhature and choley that show they can deliver on flavor. However need to work on the portions- two bhaturas and too little choley. To truly win the hearts of street food lovers, they need to focus on texture, seasoning, and authenticity in...

Bikanervala never fails to deliver a soul-satisfying Indian dining experience, and this visit was nothing short of spectacular. From the very first bite to the last, every dish radiated rich, home-style flavors that felt both nostalgic and indulgent.
Aloo Sabzi with Puri – Absolute comfort food perfection! The puris were hot, puffy, and golden, pairing beautifully with the spicy-tangy aloo sabzi that had just the right balance of warmth and zest. Every bite reminded me of traditional North Indian breakfasts done right.
Chana Masala – Full of depth and slow-cooked richness, the chana had a bold blend of spices without being overpowering. The texture was spot on—tender chickpeas in a thick, aromatic gravy that hit all the right notes.
Chole Bhature – This dish was a showstopper. The bhature were soft, airy, and slightly crisp on the edges, while the chole were deeply spiced, rich, and flavorful. The pickles and onions on the side added that perfect crunch and tang, elevating the whole plate.
Makki Ki Roti & Sarson Ka Saag – An absolute winter classic, but Bikanervala does it so well, it deserves a round of applause all year long. The saag was smooth, creamy, and packed with the earthy essence of mustard greens, enhanced by the smoky tempering of garlic and desi ghee. The makki roti was fresh, perfectly roasted, and topped with a pat of butter that melted into a delicious mess.
Bikanervala doesn’t just serve food—they serve memories wrapped in flavors. The service was warm and efficient, the atmosphere vibrant yet cozy, and the authenticity unmatched. Whether you’re craving street food, festive thalis, or a taste of home, this place is a must-visit. Highly...
Read moreHad High expectations but big disappointment. Saw mostly seniors Customer as young generation rarely like fried indian food although very tempting. Self service for high price menu comparing you can enjoy full table service in other quality restaurants nearby with great ambiance. Go to cashier pay for item and keep watching for your # to appear on LED screen on wall than go right opposite direction window to grab your food what I was told by cashier. Silly arrangement. Atleast keep screen above food dispensing window. No free drinking water / dispenser. You need to buy bottle water or beverages.
No one visit your table to ask you need any thing more or how is food. Just go all thru same process to place another order in between while you or family eating and keep yourself on toe rather than enjoying your food. Get spoon napkin from counter kept at your disposal. No water cups available. Just another fancy franchise to rob (high price) Customers without providing a much great experience to return back. Food is excellent but NO, would not recommend or be happy to visit again.
Why tip suggesting option while paying first and no service delivering food to your table. *Why adding surcharge fee when paying with credit card. Who carry cash, this is America? Even McDonald's deliver a $ coffee on your table if you...
