Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Oyster Bay

Wow! I just read the other review on here from last week. You can’t make this up. I just went to tropical smoothie today in Delco plaza. First when I walk in? You cannot get the app to work on your phone because there’s no reception. So the free smoothie that I was about to redeem for my seven year old? Ended up having to be paid for in cash. We got the drink and we left. As soon as we open the door and walked out, I asked my son how it was. He told me it was absolutely gross. I took a sip of it and it tasted nothing like what we order twice a week for the last year. I came back in and explain to the girl there was something missing. There was no sweetness to this thing, it tasted like rotten peanut butter, bland and disgusting. The girl told me that’s how it’s made that’s what it is. I told her absolutely not because I order it all the time. She had a major attitude. I asked her to either remake it, or give me my money back. She told me she would do neither . I had to buy another one. So basically I walked over to the garbage can and threw it out right in front of her. Nine dollars and change down the drain. Unfortunately? It did slip out of my hands and I spilled a bunch of it on the floor by the garbage can . My apologies to whoever had to mop it up. But under no circumstances will I go in this location ever again. I’ve lived in that neighborhood for over 20 years. I will let all of my family and friends? All of the people I know in the public and Catholic school, where my children have attended , all of my neighbors, anybody within earshot of me to never going to this place ever again absolutely rude, arrogant, incompetent young lady working behind the counter. With braided hair almost to her rear end with no hairnet on working with food. Even though I spilled the drink on the floor by accident? I don’t think it made too much of a difference. The floor was filthy to begin with the chairs were all over the place. The place was in disarray . I have also read the response that the owner gave to the reviewer that had the identical, same situation as I did less than a week ago. Two of the exact same situation in one week? Handled the same way? And in your reply to last weeks review you’re getting nasty with the guy? I will reiterate? If you were looking for a tropical smoothie? Which is a fine establishment? Do not patronize the one in Delco plaza in Hicksville. There are tons of other locations. The owner states this is a family run business? Then my friend? You should have a long talk with your family. The girl at the counter with the long hair and no hairnet? Completely rude completely obnoxious Zero and Customer service, Zero in food prep guidelines. The owner offered the person who reviewed having the same issue last week? A free smoothie next time he visits. If the owner gets a chance to read my review? Don’t waste your time offering me a free smoothie. If you’re offering me a five course meal and a manicure? You can keep it. Nine dollars and some change wasn’t all that expensive of a lesson to realize that this is not the place for...

Excellent experience and product!!! I had one shot to buy something I was able to eat just having had major oral surgery. I told the young man (exact name omitted because this is a public post, but begins with "Z") I had a strange request, and explained my circumstances to him. I expected to get a goofy look or a huff, but, without missing a beat, Z asked me a few questions, and began to suggest products he felt would be best. (This meant he did NOT act like I was burdening him with some unusual thing, and that he was actually driven to help me get what I needed.)

What he didn't know was that my personal experience this past week was almost unbearably stressful and physically incredibly painful. I've been unable to eat to the point where I've lost a dozen pounds. He did not know that, on this visit, I had one chance to pick up food, and that, if it wasn't something I could manage, I wouldn't eat anything for the next twelve hours. (I would have been unable to leave my post at work, and no one delivers to my location.)

Yes- he matched me up with two smoothies that were absolutely delicious!!! They were fortified, and he blended them perfectly, so I was able to finally fill up.

I know people who are always going to Tropical Smoothie, but I never tried it until I felt it was my only alternative. I found information on the website that enlightened me a bit- these aren't just "sugary shakes" but well designed, quick meal substitutes or additions, and are tasty enough to get them just for fun.

So, yes, the products are great! But, make no mistake about it, the reason I will return to TS in the future is entirely because one excellent young man acted so professionally that I left feeling that he REALLY took care of me. I have managed people from retail to professional environments, and I can tell you this: Z is the type of employee a company should cherish, reward, and consider for a position as a trainer, mentor, and role model. Sooo this happened to me today! We went to Tropical Smoothie located at 285 S. Broadway in Hicksville. I ordered a smoothie....the owner (Asian woman) calls out the name of my smoothie and gives it to a man who was there before me....no problem, we ordered the same thing. The owner comes running out and stops the man from drinking the smoothie cause she gave him the wrong one.....(you know where this is going)!! So she takes the cup from him, removes the straw and gives him the correct smoothie. I now walk over to the glass to see what she was going to do next. She doesn't realize I'm watching and she doesnt realize I'm the rightful owner of that smoothie.!!! She takes the top off and tops it off with the remaining smoothie that was in the blender AND THEN SHE BRINGS IT OUT....CALLS MY NAME AND GIVES IT TO ME! So, I yelled at her and said...you gonna just give me that after that man just drank from it? She says no no I made a new one....I called her a liar and said show me the old one...she comes out with the empty blender container! I now got loud, called her a liar told the entire establishment what she did and this dumb women giggles and said Im sorry....Im sorry I'm a liar. For those that know me....she caught me on a good day....cause she wouldve been wearing that smoothie! AND I accepted a new one...GOD is working on me!!! However, I will NEVER GO BACK!!! I'm sure this isn't the first time she's done...
