Shaheen Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Oyster Bay

I had two mistreatments at Shaheen Restaurant in Hicksville NY. First when I went one evening to order their well-advertised big POSTERS menu which they so proudly display in the front window. I walked into the Shaheen around 4:45 P.M when I try to place my the order I got a response in these words “you should have placed your order earlier around 2 o’clock now we’re busy the kitchen is not taking any order”. I didn’t believe what this young girl was saying very seriously. Finally, she took my order and ask me to come back in two hours I had no choice but go along with this VERY RIDICULOUS setup by Shaheen Restaurant. I had invited a friend for dinner. At 6:50 P.M I received phone call same girl advising me NOT to come kitchen is busy they can’t fill my three advertise dinners. What one could do in a situation like this? There was no apology no sorry. We wind up in Burger King for fish sandwiches. Thanks Shan. It took me about three months to step back into Shaheen Restaurant again as we were having family, and friends get together. In restaurant I asked for Shan. I was informed he was out of restaurant. The young girl was nice enough to call him on the phone. I was given the opportunity to talk to Shan. Shan told he is in a meeting now he should be in an hour please wait for him. We waited for Shan after about an hour and a half we couldn't anymore. I left my phone number in hope that Shan will call me and I will come back to place my order with Shan. I waited for over three hours with no call from no one. I went back to the restaurant. I was told he’s not back yet. I asked please let me talk to him on the phone a different young girl started with disrespectful and very angry tone to me. She was so disrespectful I couldn’t believe my eyes what I saw witnessing and going through. It’s more than a week no one have the decency to call me and hear my side of story. I am an old man why I was treated like this. People like me old timers made SHAHEEN household name. This SHAHEEN is not the same as it was started by Shan's grandfather was back in the 70s. The BEST restaurant I ever came across. Shaheen has the best Pakistani Food. If you are ever feeling homesick or miss the taste of back home pakistani food you must go to Shaheen and have their food. Everything is delicious.

Shaheen also does catering for Weddings. They are affiliated with a lot of big venues. Such as Leonards, Crest Hollow, Terrace on The Park. If you say the Name Shaheen or Shaan, all the banquet Mangers know him and Praise him. H'es highly recommended by all the Banquet mangers of all the high end venue halls.

My sister recently got married and all the catering was done By Shaan from Shaheen. He was amazing and was on top of everything. The food was delicious. The guest loved the food for the Mehndi day and also the reception day.

Lahori Fish was served as one of the appetizers and let me tell you. IT WAS SO GOOD!!!

Shaheen also does stations so for the Mehndi day we had done chaat station and aloo tikki station. Both stations were amazing. The chaat was delicious.

On the Reception day we had done Gyro station which was also a hit. There was also a chicken corn soup station. The soup was spot on. It was so good.

Shaan was very kind through out all of our events. He was very professional. His staff was on time. I never had to send him a reminder. He was always on time. The presentation of the food was amazing. I would highly recommend him for all the catering or party needs. Shaan is very easy to talk to, very soft spoken. He is very easy to communicate. He has a very positive attitude. There's no words to express how grateful we are. He did an amazing job for all of our events. Shaheen is definitely my go to spot for all my catering needs.

I used to take taxi just to pick food from their hicksville restaurant. Left heart broken when new guy at counter, after knowing how much I'm into their mild curries and reminds me of my home etc, this guy never told me that the thing he was calling butter chicken was actually tostito dip with chicken type meat but not conventional chicken they serve. They could have told me that their indian/pak chef was off so spanish guy was doing indian food. I told the guy that it didn't look like butter chicken but he convinced me. This got me really surprised and disappointed, I went to return it, not to ask for money but just to tell him politely that he should have told me the truth especially after knowing that I come from far to these guys, while I already have plenty of similar restaurants around my home. Trying to make 4 bucks extra have lost you a few customers. Besides, I had to wait for another 20 minutes as only 1 person was doing everything there (waiter, manager, reception, packing to goes). Even though my experience was pathetic, yet I ordered a biryani as I was starving. Guy took another 15 minutes and looking at his pace I thought wouldn't get my biryani for another half an hour. Made the wise choice, left the shop for good, and tried a different cuisine. Shaheen has also done me a great favor, screw the to go, I will be cooking fresh and healthy every day, end up saving loads of cash and deteriorating health. Thanks for motivating me. I'm not saying, don't go to them but learnt from others, visit shaheen on either wednesdays or weekends. That's the only time they do decent food. I'm...
