To the owner: Don't take this the wrong way. I would've addressed this over the phone but no one answered even though it was before closing.
The place is charming, the employees are friendly. The ice cream, which I didn't have, looks great. My food order, however, was pretty much a disappointment. The street corn was pretty good, but other than the cream sauce, there was no queso. On the menu it says there's cheese, but maybe somehow I'm wrong. Anyway it was good, but way too rich with too much butter\cream for the amount of corn.
I also ordered the quesadilla with veggie as my choice. The menu says veggie is yellow squash, green pepper and corn. There was no corn and more red than green peppers. Plenty of squash. Additionally, the quesadilla says it is served with rice and beans. I don't know if it's supposed to be in the quesadilla or on the side, but it wasn't with my order at all (it would have been great inside BTW). I found myself left with a very uninteresting and even bland quesadilla with a lot of squash and boring queso de papa.
As I'm writing this, I am realizing just how disappointing this was.
Again, charming place and I wish the owner success, but there are...
Read moreWe paid 45 dollars for three tacos with a side of "street corn", a quesadilla with sour cream, and a burrito with beans, rice, and guacamole, and three drinks. First off, an older white woman told the south of the boarder man cooking our order. When he had trouble understanding she spoke very crudely and rudely in his language. She then apologized to us for him being "slow" in the brain. Then we sat down outside. Honeybees attacked us immediately and my disabled mother got hurt on the cheap bench seat. We decided then to make our order to go which was a huge problem with the older white woman. The place had no other customers waiting at 1pm and they were in no way ready for people to come in. They then told us they were out of guacamole and refused to pay us our 3 dollars back for it. When we got home (3 min away) to eat it, my beans were cold like they just came out of the fridge, my moms quesadilla had little to nothing on it, and my dad's "street corn" in a cup was coarse milky pudding.
We had a horrible experience and will never be coming back. For that price we could've had a full meal at a much better...
Read moreWent with my girl. For the first time, I really liked a place that she thought was just okay. But this is my review and not hers.
We each had a burrito and shared a quesadilla. I thought the burrito was yummy. It was on the small side considering that it was $8 but still flavorful and complemented beautifully with sour cream. I think it was a beef burrito, idk she ordered for me. The quesadilla was a surprising punch of flavor that was accentuated wonderfully with the sauce on the side. I haven't had many quesadillas (this is my second) but this is the best one I've had.
Afterwards, my girl had their ice cream. I don't eat ice cream but she liked the ice cream a lot and said that two scoops of their ice cream is $3 cheaper than one scoop of Hagen Daaz so it seems to be a great value.
Pretty out of the way unless you find yourself in the middle of nowhere like we did. If I was a random farmer living out there I...
