Village Pizza — Restaurant in Town of Pawling

I stopped by Village Pizza on Friday evening, deciding to give them a shot after seeing their wildly delicious flavor combinations on Instagram. I was a little disappointed that when I stopped in, I didn’t see anything too “crazy”—lots of standard styles on display. And personally I think it would have been helpful to have cards indicating what was on each pizza to make the ordering process a little simpler. Still, I happily ordered a slice of Veggie, a Pepperoni Slice, and a Cream Soda to go. And I almost regretted not dining in because the interior is lovely. They had lots of tables and a beautiful view of the center of Pawling.

I paid a little over $12 for two slices and a soda and the slices were cut very generously. The service was quick and my pizza was piping hot and stayed so on my 10 minute drive home.

I thoroughly enjoyed the toppings on the Veggie pizza and the Pepperoni pizza was refreshing in that there was a perfect balance between cheese and pepperoni. The pepperoni was crispy without being “hard” and neither slice was too greasy.

In terms of cons, while I enjoyed the toppings of both pizzas, the texture of the dough was a tad off-putting. The dough on the veggie pizza was a little underbaked while the dough on the pepperoni slice felt over-kneaded resulting in a unappetizing, chewy texture.

There’s lots of options on the menu here, so I’ll definitely stop in again to try a few more things out. While not my favorite place in the area, it seems like a pretty reliable spot to get...

Update: I was back at Village again this week becasue one of my kids requested it for his birthday. Its been a year since my first one star review and it stays one star. Both of the calzones the we ordered were burned on the top......no quality control........no care for what their customers get.

I ordered some meatballs and they were just to big. Didn't seem like love went in to them at all. They were put in to a container with SAUCE however it didn't look like sauce but extreme oil. They also gave me a piece of bread...looked like it was a leftover piece hanging around. A nice garlic knot and a couple of decent size meatballs, made with love, in a really good sauce was what I was looking for and I was disappointed.
