I moved to the area about a year ago, originally from Manhattan (where the selection of good restaurants are in abundance) needless to say I was hoping to find a good local place. I've frequented this restaurant 4 times prior to this Friday all good experience (I usually get a very pleasant waiter with long curly hair) we've been treated good in the past no complaints. However this Friday evening my husband and I invited my sister hoping to provide her the same experience, (she was looking for a place to have a babyshower) but it was such a complete let down. The waiter was incredibly rude (first time I've ever seen him) after being seated in the section they choose for us we were asked to move just moments later because they had a larger party to sit. We didn't mind, so we moved no problem (keep in mind the restaurant was not full at all and there were plenty of other places they could've sat them) after looking at the menu the waiter proceeded to come take our order and I quote "what are you going to want" in a very harsh tone as if he was annoyed. We tried not to take it personal but it was hard not to notice the completely different tone he had for the other 2 tables near by. Being a family who's been in the restaurant business for over 25 years we had an idea of why we're being treated in this manner but had hoped we were wrong (we're a table of 3 only having drinks and appetizers while others were having the whole dinning experience which usually indicates a better tip if there are more dinners.) Although this is what we felt was happening we didn't want to ruin our evening but what really sealed it for me was when he approached our table and without saying a word he abruptly took the empty seat away to give it to another table who told him they didn't want to sit were he was putting them, he immediately glanced at us and proceeded to tell his colleague something and seconds later she preceeded to approached our table and asked to clear it out. It was very obvious we were being pressured to leave because he wanted the table. We choose not to b pressured and finish our food. I don't usually write negative reviews but this behavior shouldn't be tolerate, all guests should be treated equally. I hope the owners see this and perhaps offer him some training because he clearly is not doing a good job at the moment. Needless to say my sister choose not have her event at this establishment because of the treatment she received, I can't say...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place was superb. The only thing that I was disappointed about was that the entree that I wanted (Lamp Chops) to try was sold out. š
This was my 1st time trying this place, which I heard very good things about. I attended The Rail House on valentines day with my female cousin, as a treat from her husband šš¾
Although the place was set up with the ambiance for love birds on valentines day, it still had a great family atmosphere to it that made it enjoyable for all young and old in attendance.
My cousin and I both settled for the short ribs as our entree, because the lamb chops and filet mignon were both sold out. Which, I must go back to try them both, because the short ribs were superb, cooked perfectly with the right seasons and so tender that they melted in my mouth, complemented with mashed potatoes with gravy and brussels sprouts as sides. It was plentiful to eat. I had to force myself to stop eating so that I had enough to take to work the following day. And yes, the leftovers were even greater after marinating all night (Lol).
My cousin and I also had calamari and surf and turf skewers for appetizers, which were also great. She took home 3 different types of tacos for the family to go, along with the buffalo flatbread and the family was singing their praises as well about how good the food was. š
To top it off the servers were pleasant, attentive, and seemed to be enjoying their jobs as they took pictures of all the people requesting them for memories to share throughout the night. While the owner of this fabulous establishment made his rounds to every table to meet, greet, and have small conversations with all that I saw in attendance that night. I love it when the owners make you feel like you are not just their bread and butter, but you will become family if choose to return if only just to have a drink at the bar, sit and chill after a long day of work. This owner can "definitely" get my money again. My cousin and I will be bringing more of our family and friends back to this hidden jewel tucked away in Pelham Manor. This might become one of my favorite go-to spots.
Thank you all for the perfect valentines day and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlthough this establishment shows 4.5 stars Iād like to share my first time experience here. I never leave reviews nor am I a āKarenā, but this experience is worth my time expressing.
We made reservations for a birthday celebration. The original reservation was for a party of 3, the day of we called in to add 2 more people with it now being a party of 5. By early evening we had to call back to add one more person. Now with a party of 5 youāre already setting up a table thatās seats 6 so adding that 6th person shouldnāt be an issue. The hostess was so nasty as I was asking very nicely and she almost scolding me with words of, āIām telling you nowā¦ā As I apologized and thanked her for accommodating us she hung up the phone on me.
We get to our reservation and the hostess who was disgusting looking, was rude, sarcastic and never once cracked a smile the duration that we were there. There was never a table reserved for us whether it had been a table of 3, 5 or 6. Let me mention we had our 94 year old grandmother in a wheelchair with us. We waited in the bar area for 1 hour and 15 minutes. At this point we were starving and we decided to leave.
Iām not sure if it was the owner or manager but he came over to āapologizeā telling us they still had people there from brunch. Whether that be true or not, there should have been some expediting going on there. We have plenty of friends who are restaurant owners, worked in restaurants and dine out quite frequently. Typically brunch ends at around 3pm. You have to make room for the dinner crowd and you could ask these people to move to the bar area after a 90 minute seating. They did nothing and just watched us stand around for over an hour waiting.
We left and ended up going to a popular neighborhood restaurant that we trust and love. Jam packed restaurant, 6 people, 10 minute wait and we had amazing food, undivided attention and spectacular service. The unfortunate part was that we were eating at 10pm and the Rail House lost out on our $400 bill. We will never be back there nor will they go on my list of recommendations to family and friends. I have never experienced anything like...
