Recently celebrating their 40th anniversary I was curious and in need of some authentic New York pie so I made my first visit. I ordered a specialty slice which had dollops of ricotta and a spicy red sauce on a delicious crust. It was a homerun, total deliciousness! Unfortunately they struck out on the plain slice. It was brown and overcooked but instead of returning it I ate it after the first specialty slice thinking it would deliver the same punch. Probably just a rare mistake as this small eatery seems to know what they are doing. It’s a classic Italian pizzeria vibe with a small army of cooks manning the pies and taking the orders. Food was great! (A pizza slice) That being said, the server took like 7 min to notice us, (my wife and son) he noticed us after another family (white/Italian) sat down next to us, and he offer them a menu before us. Their food and another couples food got served before ours did. Then i ordered chicken marinara, me being new to this restaurant, im expecting a pasta with chicken marinara sauce, instead all i get is an order of only chicken with the sauce, he never said "oh thats just chicken only" or anything. As a Bronx native, pizza has always been a family go to for a quick dinner on a busy weeknight. Stumbled across this gem and was not disappointed. We opted to get assorted slices and sample a few- we were hungry! The buffalo chicken slice was delicious, perfectly spiced and fresh. The plain slice was amazing, you could really appreciate the sauce which was flavored nicely. The spinach slice was great, sautéed to perfection. Lastly, the grandma Sicilian slice was scrumptious. The crust was perfectly crispy but not too hard that you would worry about chipping a tooth. Definitely a family favorite!
