I would love to give 5 Mile Cafe a full 5 Stars. I'm not sure if this was a bad day or low staff or some combination, but there were service issues. We were seated outside to our preference. We then sat for over 15 minutes waiting to give our drink order. After the wait, we have our drink and food order. The drinks came fine. Then we waited 40 minutes for food to come out. (Omelet, and Corned beef Hash meals). During those 40 minutes, no refill of iced tea, no offer of water, nor an update for serving the meal were given. This is where I had to drop my rating. When the food came out there was again no offer of a refill. Given the warmth of the morning and delay something should have happened. The food was wonderful. I tasted the Corned Beef Hash and enjoyed the seasoning. It was not just salt potatoes and Corned beef, it was well worth going out to order. My Build your own omelet was broccoli, onions, and bacon with cheese. The broccoli was steamed perfectly to work with the eggs and had good flavor. The bacon was very good and the grilled onions went perfectly. The serving of home fries was appropriate and did not smoother the omelet. I enjoyed the plating of both dishes and the garnish of a piece of watermelon and mint added to the visual satisfaction. I will return and see if the service issue was just that time or if it is a regular problem. The meal was well...
Read moreAs soon as you walk into the house-renovated restaurant, you'll see home-baked dessert ranging from fruit tart cheesecake to everybody's favorite cookies next to the daily international selection of coffee brews under the well-lit decor. The best part? The owners, Sal and Jen, love their restaurant, and they are passionate about their food, and this resonates in their creation. Sal and Jen both truly believe in the well-being, whole-some food that is FRESH. The fresco crispiness is incomparable to other brunch bistro/cafe that I have experienced so far, and the chicken bacon avocado in their sourdough bread was absolutely satiating with each tender and succulent bite that I took. Don't forget about the sweet potato fries with their special dip!
As a Buffalonian this place is worth my two hour round trip, and I would go there in a heartbeat just to try the rest of the menu. If you live in this area or if you are visiting/passing by the Rochester area, this is the place to dine. Just make sure you get there early because this place gets packed easily in the morning due to their renowned...
Read moreHi, I normally don’t write in, but I felt it was important to share our experience. We just left your establishment after waiting exactly 30 minutes just to be acknowledged and seated. I eventually spotted an empty table, wiped it down myself, and sat there with my two kids, only for another 10 minutes to pass with no service. That’s when I decided to leave, and only then did someone finally approach us.
I understand it was busy, but that shouldn’t mean customers are ignored, especially when we’re there to pay for a service. Also, I noticed a younger girl, possibly the host, standing at the bar the entire time without offering any help. Meanwhile, the gentleman on staff was doing most of the work but was not very pleasant, even though he was at least moving.
It was disappointing and frustrating, especially with children. I hope this feedback is taken constructively to improve the experience for future guests. Not to mention it was our first time and probably last Horrible...
