Have been meaning to visit since they’ve opened. Beautiful location and ambience inside the taproom is cozy. Prices were a bit high though in comparison to other breweries/taprooms however. $9 for an IPA and $10 for a sour. I understand an up charge on drafts, going rate is about $7 for a pour at let’s say Copper Leaf in Pittsford.
Unfortunately, it became even more expensive the next day. When cashing out I was asked to keep it open or closed. Told the bartender I’d just be getting the two beers but I may get a four pack on the way out. They said ok and gave me my total and then swiped the card and handed it back. Most establishments keep your card until closing out (maybe part of the mistake) Never indicating it was still open. We finished our beers and set the empty glasses on the bar, again no one indicated “hey ya gotta close out”. Saw my card statement and now it’s $24.32. Called and it was explained that if you don’t sign and close out before end of business it’s a 20% gratuity fee. This to my knowledge is not posted anywhere, or at least I did not see it.
Communication on the process wasn’t great, and now I’ve paid almost $25 for two beers. I’ll chalk it up to miscommunication on my end and the bartenders for not clearly saying it was still open. Doesn’t leave a great feeling in my stomach though. Aurora has always had solid beers and we’ve supported them. However, I won’t be returning. Rather just go to a local beer shop and pick up a 4 pack for less...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Aurora Brewing Company near Rochester, NY, and it was an experience worth sharing. Tucked away in Pittsford, this brewery offers a welcoming atmosphere and a solid lineup of craft beers that cater to a variety of tastes.
Walking in, I immediately felt the cozy yet lively energy of the place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to offer recommendations. I started with their Reindeer Breath coffee stout, a deep, rich brew with bold coffee notes—perfect for a chilly afternoon. Then, I tried Orange Cookies, which had a smooth citrus profile that was surprisingly refreshing.
The space itself is inviting, with both indoor seating and an outdoor area that’s great for unwinding. On certain nights, they host pub trivia, adding a fun social element to the experience. While everything was fantastic, I’d advise dressing warmly if visiting during cooler months, as the indoor space can feel a bit brisk. Also, dogs aren’t allowed inside, so keep that in mind if you're planning to bring a furry friend.
Overall, Aurora Brewing Company is a great spot for craft beer lovers. I’ll definitely be back for...
Read moreI really want to love Aurora Brewing in Perinton, especially because the beers they feature on social media always look so appealing. The ambiance of the place is great, with a charming historic feel, and the setting along the canal is simply beautiful. However, I was a bit disappointed with the beer selection during my visit. The only sour available wasn't to my taste, and the overall selection was quite limited. I was hoping to find something seasonal, like a pumpkin ale, but most of the options were IPAs, which aren't my preference. Parking can also be a challenge. That said, the location and atmosphere make it worth a visit, but I hope to see a bit more variety in the future to match the stunning...
