I'm visiting my family and I'm from out of town. My brother mentioned that we should go to the Underpass Bar. He called and was able to get a reservation for 10 on a Friday night with only a few hours' notice! That was the first thing that impressed me about this establishment. When we got there, there was a lovely gas fire pit burning outside on the patio. Perfect for bringing people. When we got inside, the bar was 90% full. I asked about happy hour specials and if so was it only offered at the bar, the hostesses said "everyone gets specials." Perfect answer. We were immediately seated even though our whole party was not there. It wasn't that busy at 5:15 and our waitreas came over and took our drink orders. I was impressed with the menu of draft beers and variety. (Sours, brown ale, stout, porter, lagers, IPA). Ans the prices were more than fair. The rest of our party showed up at 5:30-our requested time. Again, the waitress came around and took drink orders. Once the drinks were served, she asked if everyone was read to order and we were. We ordered appetizers', soups, and main courses all once. While waiting for food, I noticed that they have a Touchtunes system and went and made a playlist of preferred songs. Shortly after that, the appetizers and my soup came out. there was a big variety. We had the saracha Cauliflower wings, Fried cheese curds, Pretzel with beer cheese, and the new england clam chowder. Everything tasted great. My only issue was the temperature of the food. It was like the food had been waiting to get picked up was not hot. When our dinners finally came, they were timely. The burgers were huge and a really good portion of fries came with them. 2 broiled haddock dinners were ordered, but they were luke warm. They had a good taste, but the temperature was not proper. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food there were no complaints other than the temperature. When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the dinner was for 10 people with appetizers, and beverages. The meal came under four hundred dollars with tip and tax included. I would definitely go back to the restaurant. By the time we received our food, the whole dining space up top and below were filled and I could see why. This is a good family spot to go to and probably later in the night. A good spot to join your friends. The outdoor area was very homie. It was covered, they had corn hole and that large fire pit.

We've been coming to the Underpass since it's inception a little over a year ago. There is something for everyone - bring your family, team, grandparents, kids - it is a very friendly & family-oriented place. They have a covered outdoor patio, fire pit, frequent live music, extensive craft beer selection that is always changing & a delicious, well-rounded menu. But what is truly five-star worthy at the Underpass is their amazing staff - you will most certainly get "service with a smile", from management to servers to bartenders to the kitchen staff, everyone goes out of their way to ensure you receive their best. They also have party room space for your next event. If you haven't been to the UP, you are missing out - get there today!

Went midweek, around 6pm so it was quite uncrowded. Great food. My fish tacos and my wife's burger (ordered bunless) were perfectly prepared and delicious. We found the tap menu to be pretty good. Atmosphere is big, dim, a little bit noisy. Staff was interesting: after hostess finally appeared and scolded us for wandering past her station and not waiting for her, she brought us to our table. Our server was fast, efficient, and brief, like he had to be somewhere else - not a complaint, just an observation. We'd definitely go back for the food and beer.

We were looking forward to trying this place since their upgrades and the reviews I had read prior to our visit.

My party of 10 had a reservation for 5:30 pm. My online reservation was made 4 days in advanced and updated that day with a new headcount. We arrived and sat at the bar for about 30 minutes and let the hostess know when we went to our table. The bar was busy but the restaurant area only had a few table being served. The service at the bar was good. At one time I counted maybe 5 staff on site not sure if there were others somewhere else.

We went to our table, bottles of water were on the table which was nice but there was no ice in them. They had been sitting out there for at least 30 minutes or longer waiting to be greeted by our server. There were 3 other smaller tables sitting near us that were getting service. We waited for approximately 30 minutes and still no server. I went into the restaurant to ask the hostess that we have not been seen by the server. She said she would let her know. Everyone was getting hangry! LOL!

Another 30 minutes went by and still no server. I went back inside a 2nd time and spoke to the same person and she told me that there was only one server and there was nothing she could do. Amazing!

Proceeded to tell my party this and we were beginning to get antsy and thinking about leaving the restaurant. A server comes to our area to service the other tables and we had to get her attention. We let her know that we have not received any service (it has been over an hour now) and she tells us that she will check to see who our server is. She comes back and apologizes that our table is hers. She didn't know this. We asked ourselves, how does she not know our table is hers if she is the only server. Poor staff communication.

She apologizes half heartedly, doesn't tell us her name and proceeds to ask us how she can help. We let her know we just wish to order our food. She takes our dinner orders. We waited about 30-45 minutes to get our food. The runner actually delivered our food, not the server. The server did not come back and ask us if we had everything we needed or needed anything else, or offer to get more drinks. One of my party was lacking something from their meal do the next time the server came out to service the other table we got her attention to ask. She brought us what we requested pretty quickly but again no acknowledgment of our wait or lack of service.

I'm not sure how long we would have had to wait for our bills so when she came by our table again, we asked for our bills. She didn't ask if we wanted any dessert or anything...probably by this time she knew we were not a happy table.

We paid our bills and left. Again, no acknowledgment for the lack of resources, wait time, delay, etc. If they had acknowledged that they were short of staff and just overbooked that would have been one thing...but nothing. We saw no manager, nothing! Well, that's my story about the service.

Now, the food. It left a lot to be desired. I had a chicken taco salad. Usually these are pretty tasty this was tasteless, very watery tasting. The pieces of chicken were dried up cubes. Two others had taco salads with beef and they said the same thing about theirs. My mothers quesadilla was over cooked. My friend who had the "Fire on the Mountain" burger said hers was good but a little overcooked.

We were seated under their front deck outdoors per my request. The area is a bit brighter and not overlooking the parking lot like their back deck . We might have been happier in the back area...front was very noisy with the multiple trains going by and road traffic. My bad!

Needless to say, we were less then pleased with our service and food. It was a bummer! Just thought you might like to know about...

Overall this was not a pleasant dining experience. Right at the door there was a sign indicating that all patrons would need to show proof of vaccination which I appreciated. However, things changed when we ventured inside. The hostest said she didn't need to look and was actually explicitly told not to check for vaccination status among anyone walking in, which was a red flag for my party. We were seated quickly and a band was setting up (more about that later). I have a gluten allergy and I was told that this establishment had some good gluten free options. So when I inquired with our server, she was extremely snappy and unhelpful in pointing out gluten free options, mentioning that there is a gluten free pizza crust and the wings are gluten feee also but no mention if the fryer was shared or not. I decided not to chance the food having gluten and went with a burger without a bun. As we waited for our food, the band seemes to be testing out their equipment and played a portion of a song, a little too loudly. Then a few minutes later, the same portion of a song played again, and again a few minutes after that. The food arrived and was delightful except for a large bone in a chicken sandwich someone else ordered at our table. The largest issue however, came with our bill. Three of the five items on the bill were priced higher than what was on the menu. We asked for the manager as our unfriendly waitress attempted to explain how it was all accurate. Finally after 10 minutes of waiting the manager came over and did not even give us 10 seconds of her time before she had the audacity to say it was really busy and that she would take 10% off the bill instead of fixing the problem for future customers. Oh and about that busy part, the bar was only about half filled and the tables were 2/3 filled with guests. We finally left after about 90 minutes and guess what, the band still had not started playing anything but a portion of that one song. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and the unfriendliness of the wait staff and manager have deterred us from going back. I would only go here if you like feeling unimportant and unvalued as a...
