Olives is a Greek restaurant located next to the Erie Canal inside a block of unique artisian shops in Pitsford NY. The parking lot is a shared lot for the restaurants and shops. We dined for lunch on a weekday and the restaurant was busy although we did not have a wait time for a table and were seated immediately by our server who brought us menus and welcomed us. In the dining room a black board takes up the back wall space and it's where daily specials are placed for patrons convenience. We both ordered the Euro platter which had an assortment of meats home made pita bread grape leaves and rice. The platter was a large sized serving with plenty of extra food to bring home to enjoy for dinner. Appetizer of choice was the 3 dips with home made pita bread which was delicious. A order of Greek fries were added to our entree which were plenty to share. We both enjoyed the tomatoe and roasted pepper soup which was one of the soups which were offered. It was delicious with set my taste buds alive with the taste of roasted red pepper.I highly reccomend the Greek fries which were golden crisp and also sprinkled with plenty of good feta cheese. I'd also reccomend the Euro platter along with the 3 dip appetizer. Service was fast friendly and professional. Olives offered home made Greek food at its best! Also a nice assortment of desserts to choose from or maybe ordered to take home. Alcohol is served. My husband choice was a glass of Greek wine which he announced would be his choice next time we visit. Olives also offers a nice sized patio for outdoor dining. Thank you Olives for a most pleasurable dining experience. We look forward to...
Read moreFood was okay I got the same thing both times I was here and each time my gyro was dripping with sauce and soggy and then chicken felt hard. The service was even worse. I went twice in one week and experienced the same thing with both waitress'. The first night we told our waitress we were ready to order and she said okay and walked away, took care of three other tables before coming back and asked if we were ready to order. After receiving our food we did not see the waitress again until she walked by and casually said ten minutes after we finished eating "are you ready?" We were sitting right next to the counter and she had to pass us each time she went back to the kitchen, not to mention there were only six tables there with 12 people in the restaurant. Three days later our different waitress again did not check up on us and then when we went to pay we were informed they do not accept cards. It would be helpful if this was mentioned before our dinner or a large sign on the door before we come in as most restaurants accept cards and many people do not carry around cash and checks. Luckily one person had a checkbook so we did not have to pay the ATM fee however we were left at the desk for five minutes waiting to hand the...
Read moreI had been craving delicious Greek cuisine for several weeks, and this place ruined it. We ordered for pick up, which they said would be done in 20 minutes, but 20 minutes plus 15 minutes of being ignored by the snobby staff, we finally got the food. As we rushed home hoping the food could salvage the poor service, our positive thoughts were shattered yet again. The saganaki? WHAT A JOKE!!! I should have known not to order it by the fact that you can order it to take out... I'll take a little blame for that. If it's done the RIGHT WAY, the person will tell you it's not good to take it, but come in while your order is being made to enjoy it. Then the gyros... I got classic, my honey got chicken portabello, and let's just say us being hungry was the only reason that they were eaten. Otherwise my gym shoes are less rubbery than the gyro and chicken meat... but, rice pudding! Yum! Rice pudding!!! Yeah, how about NOT!? Honey had huge chunks of uncooked rice in his dish, so in the garbage that went! Wendy's would've been a better and cheaper option.
Next time I want Greek food, I'll go to the other place down the way from this hole, or maybe I'll hit up Monroe with the druggies and bums and have a much friendlier and...
