Today I had one of the most horrible experiences in a restaurant I’ve ever had I Rochester and it was at a this place. I’ve gone there quite a few times and it was always an ok experience but I like the food. Service is usually ok and polite. But today we were having a brunch with friends and Lindsay was our waitress. We were having such a good time catching up with my friends and the waitress was coming to check on Us and all normal until we were finishing our plates and I asked again for the menu cause We wanted to order some dessert to finish our brunch. Two of my of my friends wanted to order but she only took the order of one and rushed off and brought the smoothie in a to go cup. I proceeded to tell her if She could bring my check cause I had to go and that’s when she became nasty to me and told me that she couldn’t cause she already had printed he check. I was so surprised by her tone and made me feel really uncomfortable and told her to not talk to me in that way and that someone else wanted to order something else. She told me that she could take her order but she was going to put it in a togo cup like the last smoothie cause she needed that we close the check! Cause there were people waiting! (There wasn’t anyone waiting) I was in shocked to be talked and rushed out of a restaurant like that! When we just finish eating and the table wanted to order something else for dessert. It’s supposed to be a nice restaurant and not a order/eat in a rush and go!! She talked to me in such a nasty way that I got really mad but try to keep calm and call her out as she try to gaslight me saying that she never talked to me a rude way, gaslighting me completely and fake apologized to me cause obviously she didn’t want it to escalate . I didn’t talk to a manager or anything at the moment cause I was really upset but I can’t believe that We were trying to have a nice birthday brunch and She spoke to me in that way, try to undermine me and make Us leave as quick as She could and be mad about Us ordering more! I understand people work for tips but that gives no right to rushed anyone out the the door when We go out to eat to enjoy the food and the...
Read moreAs someone who was spoiled with a great crepe place in my college town (and lived in France for 4 months to boot), I was pretty disappointed with the crepe I got here. I ordered the egg and grilled vegetable crepe with roasted red pepper sauce and pesto on the side, as it was the ONLY savory vegetarian crepe on the menu. I didn’t have the heart to tell the waitress that it just did not taste good. The combination of this humongous, rubbery scrambled egg stuffed into the crepe with rubbery grilled vegetables on the bottom was weird in a bad way. Part of it was because the food was lukewarm and part of it was because the stuffing was not homogeneous (all the grilled vegetables where on one side and all of the egg was on the other when I wanted a single bite to have both). It was also pretty dry and I think they could really use some of the sauce inside the crepe or have something creamier like bechamel or something to lessen the dryness. I don’t know what the hype is about the crepe itself either- they sell the crepe shell mixture in a can and I think that is a waste of money. There was nothing special about the crepe I ate that I couldn’t make myself with flour, milk, eggs and butter. It was also really expensive (16-18 dollars for a pretty disappointing meal), but that’s what having your restaurant on the Erie Canal path does I guess. Some people will tell you otherwise but I think there is much to be desired here. Sadly there isn’t really any other great crepe places in Rochester, so you have to pick your...
Read moreWent today with family, ended up eating at around 1:50, 2 o'clock. Waiting time was pretty long even after lunchtime, and when we went in to eat, I noticed plenty of people who had already eaten and paid the bill and were just chatting. As much as I can understand wanting to chill and talk, there was a line out the door, and given the location there were several cozy outdoor areas to chat otherwise. personally I think there should be a window for how long a person can stay after receiving/eating their meal. Simply Crepes is a small place with a lot of customers and I think that could help prevent unnecessary wait times.
As for the food, I got the cinnamon apple crepe with whipped cream, ice cream and caramel. We noticed shortly after ordering that the crepe had already been made and was waiting on the counter, but it didn't get delivered until everyone else's food was done. At that point it was cold and kind of mushy. The crepe itself was good, however I felt there was too much whipped cream and too little apple. There was also no ice cream or caramel. Despite this I gobbled the whole thing down in maybe 5 minutes. Delicious, but not quite what I was hoping for.
I understand many businesses are experiencing a deficit in workers, and for that I am sympathetic. I do plan on returning again, and perhaps instead I will order something on the savory side. Thank you for being so close to home, as my own cooking would have no chance of satiating my crepe-craving quite as well as you...
