I've been to Artic Bites numerous times, and each time it has been excellent. This is one of the most unique and fun restaurants in town.
Steak, Lobster & Tuna -- go order the steak and lobster; you will not regret it. There's a reason surf and turf is popular combination, and Arctic Bites does it very well. Their strip steak was very good, as was the lobster tail which came out pre-cooked and divided, served in the tail, with a bit of sweet sauce on it (really awesome.) Cooking on the stones is a really cool experience too, and Sam Wong, the very friendly owner comes around and shows you how to do it, just in case you're not sure. The stones are super hot and get a really nice seer on the steak, and they stay hot for a really long time. The tuna is the sushi grade slabs (essentially sashimi.) Next time I think I'm going to ask for a little bit of sesame oil to dip them in before I seer them, and maybe get some wasabi as well. They were excellent too. My buddy had the shrimp and said they were great.
Of note, I didn't get the impression that anything was marinated, and only the lobster came with sauce on it. This means that people with specific allergies should be able to eat here without much issue. The owner and waitress are very friendly and interactive, so they'll definitely help you figure out whatever you need.
The poke bowls are fantastic too - I love choosing my own adventure with the custom selection menu. The orders do take a little while to make (it's a lot of ingredients to combine) so either plan on waiting about 10 to 15 minutes or order ahead of time, online. Make sure if you're placing a big order that you give them plenty of lead time - calling to let them know when you want to pick up your orders helps them out too. I recommending experimenting with all the unique menu items - you'll be surprised by some of the amazing flavors you may not have experienced together before.
As you probably suspect, the sushi is also excellent, as are the ramen bowls. I haven't personally had either, but I've heard enough people I trust give that opinion that I can confidently say it's accurate.
Try the Taro with Boba. It's like you're drinking the milk leftover from a bowl of cereal with little tapioca pearls at the bottom that give you sweet flavor and texture bursts. Warning - you're gonna drink it way faster than you expected. The Boba just kinda get addictive, and the combination is fantastic. If you haven't had this before and think it sounds weird, try it anyway - there's a reason it's super popular and trendy (it's delicious.)
The ice cream is really neat too. The flavors are really cool, and they can make it basically in any flavor, because what they're doing is scooping together the ice cream with a liquid (or whatever flavors it like strawberries or macha) and mixing it together on the cold stone. Sam mentioned he could do coffee and I really want to try that one. Anyway, the whole concept is very different. The portion is smaller because it's more of a delicate, texture thing. The ice cream is much colder than normal, which allows them to roll it into these straw-like things. You eat it slowly with a small spoon and enjoy the flavors more than you would with a huge cone if Perry's or something. Think of a gelato type of experience. The pre-set combinations are awesome, but so too is choosing your own adventure.
I haven't gotten to try the creps yet, but I'm really excited to do so. There's also some pudding type things I'm looking for to trying out soon too.
I strongly recommend giving Arctic Bites a try as soon as possible.
PS: Their liquor license isn't in yet, and until it is, they let you BYOB...
Read moreI enjoy going here, but today was not a good day. I haven’t had a lot of problems with their food until now. I have an allergy, and other times I have come, staff have been very understanding and helpful. Maybe it was a miscommunication with the staff, but I am disappointed. I bought a love boat (4 pieces of sashimi, 2 pieces of sushi, and a specialty roll) and made it clear on the description to make it gluten free. In the photo I have, there is a specialty roll, but it has crusts of bread (gluten) on the shrimp. My friend reached out to them and got hung up on after a confusing interaction via customer service. Nothing was resolved. I want a refund because I can’t eat this and I have I debt in my wallet and heart. :( I don’t hate this place at all… I just wish they cancelled the transaction if they couldn’t make the order. Please refund if you see this… Update: it’s been months and I still have received a refund. I set up a dispute with my credit card agency to charge back the account and I honestly wish it hadn’t come to this. No one reached out to me regarding this. I might not come here again. :( I honestly can’t recommend this place to those with celiacs/gluten allergies with good conscience, but if you do wish to go here, please be...
Read moreYour typical Japanese restaurant with the occasional special rolls and varying cooked kitchen foods, it was hard to say this was anything different than what I’ve had from the past.
With very little seating but quick service, you had to order in the front desk instead of having someone come to you which was a bit confusing at first. We asked for gluten free options for the rolls and I don’t think they remembered for the Summer roll. The flavors for both of these rolls didn’t really mix well especially the Summer roll with he strawberries. The best part about these rolls were the sauce hiding the flavor and textures of the sushi rolls.
The pork ramen’s pork belly were cut so thin that it tasted very similarly to beef cut in a Chinese restaurant, dry and no fat. The veggies weren’t the most appealing either and I didn’t expect for there to be corn in this kind of dish. The umami was too salty most likely from the pork belly and unfortunately the veggies didn’t balance that out for me.
Overall, it’s good for a quick bite if you didn’t care what you...
