The Opera House also presents live satellite broadcasts of opera from the Metropolitan Opera in NYC, theatre from the National Theatre in London, ballet from Moscow’s Bolshoi Ballet, and art and architecture exhibitions from all over the world. Each year in June, the Opera House presents the three-day Bach & Beyond Baroque Music Festival. In keeping with its mission “to present the performing arts for the benefit of our community and region, while preserving one of our region’s historically significant landmarks,” the Opera House works to keep ticket prices low, and to present a wide variety of nationally and internationally recognized artists.

This restoration is remarkable. My Uncle and Aunt, Alden and Lois Sherman, ran the place during its life as the Wintergarden Theater (Movies) during the 1930's to 1960's. Though it was always a comfortable family theater, the restoration rivaling even that period to its glory of the 1800's original is breathtaking. The music of the present and warm memories of the past come alive during an evening's visit to the Opera House. Not...

Beautiful historic restoration to be appreciated. Great programming, not duplicated anywhere nearby. It's actually 5 stars , took off 1 star for parking and seats are original and therefore uncomfortable for tall people! That doesn't stop me...
