I work in an office environment about 5 minutes away from Half Tons and we order food from there a lot. The food is never amazing, and you never feel quite like we get our money's worth. I had the cheeseburger at the last order. It wasn't burnt, but it was covered with grill char like they hadn't cleaned the grill in a bit. It looked and tasted like it was a frozen burger. The fried cauliflower was greasy to a point that it wasn't appealing. One lady ordered one of their hot turkey sandwiches and took a few bites and threw it away because she wasn't impressed. The worst part was the attitude we were given when placing our order. Apparently they had already delivered to our building twice that day, and they made a comment about how we should all order together. We are all in the same building, but we don't work together. The whole building doesn't coordinate lunch together. All orders combined, the building spent at least $150, and we just didn't think that "buying too much food from them" warranted the rude comments. Let's just say that quite a few of us won't be voting to order...
Read moreWent in with my grandson because we heard they had good wings. We stood by the Point of Sale system where the waitress/Hostess was typing in information. She told us to “wait a minute”. She finished about 5 minutes later, walked past us to kitchen, brought out drinks for another table as she walked by us again saying nothing. She walked by us two more times doing various chores without acknowledging our existence. There were 3 dirty tables which she started to clean off again saying nothing. We left. She was so incredibly rude! Just a small “I’ll be right with you as soon as I clear off this table.” Would have been fine and normal under the circumstances. If they were short handed, she could have said, “I’ll just be few minutes, we are short handed today.” and that would have been fine. Totally ignoring the existence of two paying customers is inexcusable in todays business world. If she is an employee, her employer should be told how badly she treats the customers. If she’s the owner, she should be...
Read moreFood: 5 stars – The wings were outstanding—crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Easily some of the best I’ve had in the area. Service: 3 stars – The staff themselves were super friendly and clearly hardworking. I genuinely feel bad for them because management left them hanging. It was graduation weekend in a college town, and the place was severely understaffed. The crew that was there did their best under pressure, but they were clearly overwhelmed—and that’s on management, not them. Atmosphere: 1 star – This was a huge letdown. It’s supposed to be a sports bar, but they don’t have cable or streaming services? No live Knicks playoff game, no Yankees vs. Mets—just YouTube reruns on the TVs in a New York sports bar? That’s almost unthinkable and really takes away from the experience. Overall, the food is great, the staff are awesome, but the place needs serious attention from management—both in planning for big weekends and in actually offering what a...
