I'm so disappointed in my most recent experience. I used to frequent Mama Lucia's from 2011-2018 (until I moved to Virginia). I recently moved back up to the North Country and my husband and I decided to go out for a (rare) date night. I asked him to go here because I've never had a bad experience. Well, I'm sorry to say, we had nothing, but bad experiences that night. Our waitress, Natalie, didn't come to our table to give us water for ten minutes. We waited ten minutes just for water. We looked at the menu, figured out what we wanted to eat, and then closed and placed our menus down so she would see we were ready. Still, we waited. She finally came with water and to take our drink order. We told her the appetizer we wanted and were told they were out, at 5:30, on a Tuesday evening. That says a lot right there. Okay, so we order something else. We ordered our dinners, and she left. About ten minutes later, I still don't have my iced tea. Our appetizer came out before I even got my drink. We kindly reminded her and she said, "Oh, yeah." We didn't even get an apology. Our food came out and my husband's pizza was burnt on top. Kindly, the manager (I believe) saw the disappointing state of his pizza and asked if he wanted a new one. He refused because my meal was out, and he wanted to eat with me. Sadly, my manicotti was overcooked. It was extremely hard on top. No problem, I'll eat it. The only good things that night were the meatball and the bread. We spoke to, who we believed to be the manager, and let her know how terrible the experience was. Pretty much saying everything I am here. We didn't ask for a discount or anything, we had paid, no issues. We paid a $70 bill for awful food and service. We just wanted it to be known how bad everything was. The saddest part is this was my husband's first time there. His first impression was a terrible one. It makes me upset because I know how good it can be. I raved about this place to my husband and this is what he gets. I'm not sure if it was just a bad night, or if the place has just gone downhill over the...
Read moreWe stopped here after traveling all day to visit St Lawrence University with our son. Needless to say we were pretty exhausted and, as it was a Sunday, most of the restaurants in Canton were closed. I called the order in while making the 20 minute drive, one large cheese pizza, one small cheese pizza, and a salad. The total came to $69. We were so tired that we ended up just accepting it assuming that the food must be pretty good at that price point. We arrived and noticed that the restaurant is housed in a really cool old train station. When we got inside we realized that there was no air conditioning and it was pretty darn hot in there. A woman at the bar told us that it would just be a minute for our order. There were only two occupied tables of two people each in the whole place at dinner time which was the first indication that there may be a problem. We then proceeded to wait about another 20-30 minutes in that very hot space. As you can imagine, we were fairly grumpy by this point. A couple of staff members did check in with us as we waited and were very pleasant. The food finally came and we headed back to the hotel. We were utterly disappointed in the quality of the food. The $18.00 salad consisted of brown shredded lettuce with a couple of carrot flakes and a few grape tomatoes. The house dressing was a very bland vinegar and oil. It was basically inedible. The large pizza was too big for the box so the corner was folded over onto itself. The pizza was just fair, absolutely not worth the price we paid. Maybe we came on a bad night but likely would not go back. If you're going to charge that much the food definitely needs to be of a...
Read moreWe went there yesterday to celebrate our second anniversary. I really regret it. In an almost empty restaurant, we got placed right next to the female restroom door. There was no privacy and we got disturbed a lot by the woman’s using the restroom. The table that we were placed on was wagging and shaking and almost falling apart. My chair was broken and I was trying to sit still to not make it fall apart complete. The other chair next to me wasn’t better. The “mixed greens” side Salad that I ordered as a starter was only made out of a cheap kind of ice berg lettuce and soaked in mostly vinegar. Tasted horrible. It wasn’t made out of mixed greens. It was also made out of the end of the lettuce and tasted bitter and looked pale and almost white. No greens at all. The Pizza took forever. The waiter didn’t come to ask us for more drinks or even taking away the dirty salad dishes. When the pizza finally arrived we had no fresh dishes at all to even place the pizza. I used the one that they served the bred on. My husband his dirty side Salad dish. The pizza didn’t look or taste like much. It was oily…Then we started eating and the server showed up and ask us (I was on my second slice of pizza), if we want dessert or the check. We asked for the check and went home. My husband added some fresh herbs to the pizza and we ate at home in a better Atmosphere. My wine wasn’t cold enough either and the ladies restroom is a mess. Toilet seat is lose, one door isn’t lockable. Tiles are broken and a safety hazard (you can fall easy), floor dirty. Never would go...
