Doughnut Dolly has some real potential to be the next top doughnut specialty shop in Dutchess County, possibly even the entire Hudson Valley.

This 5 star rating is provisional, given that we rope dropped their soft opening, so not everything was flowing smoothly or available quite yet. That said, there is ALOT to be excited about.

We ordered a Pistachio old fashioned donut, a Passion Fruit brioche donut, and was given a complimentary German Chocolate Cake... "thing"(more on this in a bit) to test out as well.

The Pistachio donut was excellent. I'm a big fan of Pistachio, so I try to get Pistachio donuts all the time, but the flavor here was blended perfectly into the base. The old fashioned base itself was the perfect density and moistness as well. Really great job here.

Normally I not a fruit filled donut kind of guy, but this brioche base was easily the best brioche base for a donut I've ever had. In my opinion, it might not even matter what filling, glaze, or topping you get because the brioche was so well done. It was soft and flavorful on its own. The Passion Fruit filling was a little scarce, but well prepared and homemade. The glaze/icing was very tasty, albeit a little runny due to the donut recently having come out of the oven. I'm stoked to try a brioche donut with a cream or chocolate centric filling next time.

The final "donut" was not quite a donut at all. First, the German Chocolate Cake topping was absolutely decadent and delicious. Second, and more importantly, I think Donughnut Dolly may have inadvertently created a new kind of donut treat. We were told that this batch didn't come out the way they would've liked, but I actually think it was a very fortunate mishap. The base was flatter than a typical donut, condensed, and crunchy like a cookie. With the German Chocolate Cake topping, it felt like I was eating a Samoa. Now while I wouldn't quite label this a donut, I would strongly recommend considering making more of these, with different toppings as well, and calling it something different entirely so people don't get confused with their expectations. Call it a "Dolly Disc" or something, idk.

Other than the food, the interior and bathroom were clean, but I do think there might be a problem with space as this shop gets more popular- which it will, I promise you that. The prices aren't over the top for quality donuts like these, but I do think Doughnut Dolly will be the next staple of the...

a minute ago New Take out | Breakfast | $20–30 i came in this afternoon and wanted to get the $16 half dozen. my husband loves apple fritters so when i saw it, i knew i wanted to get it for him. i asked the worker if the apple fritter was included with the $16 half dozen. she gave an unclear answer combined with a nasty attitude that i can “get what i want”. i assumed that meant it was included so i ordered it. while i was ordering the worker made me feel extremely rushed and unwelcome despite there only being one couple in line behind me. she rung up my donuts all separately making it come to $24. $2.50 a donut i can justify but $4 for a relatively small donut - i would have not come in in the first place. i usually have no problem speaking up for myself but the workers attitude just made me want get outtt. as soon as i left i heavily regretted coming. i feel like if certain donuts come in the $16 half dozen then that should be clearly explained and specified. based on my experience i would not come again. i wish i never went in the first place and i wish i would have walked out as soon as i saw the price and i wish i could get my money back. i included a picture compared to a regular bottle of soda because not only was i disappointed in how little for the price they were, the taste wasn’t that impressive to me. if you have money to spend by all means come, but if you’re budget is tight like me, dunkin would’ve made this girl happier...

Edit: I’m going to leave my previous review but I have been back since the first weekend and wow!

There are now a variety of offerings that lean more towards tasty pastries than just simply donuts. There is also always some variety on offer which totally spices up the occasional visit.

I also want to say, that this is without a doubt the best cup of coffee in dutchess county. Like, amazing.

While still pricey I think this is fully worthwhile and while also another baked good at Eastdale it does differentiate itself.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

I’m going to preface this with the fact that I’m in no way a donut connoisseur and if given the choice of dessert I’m going for ice cream.

With that said the doughnuts here were good, clearly fresh and some good thought was put into the variety and mixing of flavors. My children really enjoyed the dozen that we bought.

Because something so carefully crafted is probably time and resource heavy the price was extremely high. A dozen donuts approached $38.

However, I found the consistency of the doughnut to be a little too cake-like or dense? I also found that they left an uncomfortable film in my mouth.

While i personally will not be back I think this is another interesting addition to Eastdale and I can see them easily having a...
