Update: I came back yesterday with my family. We dont go out to eat much but we were out east and we like this place. My meal and my parents were good, however I ordered my child a fried egg and made sure the egg was made with a soft cooked/lose yolk, the waitress said they cannot do that but did not explain why. I didnt want to question it bc I did not want to sound argumentive but then she said you could get over easy. I assumed that meant the over easy would be cooked easy but it was cooked hard and not at all tasty. (my egg in my dish was suppose to be easy cooked too but everything in it was very good so I didnt mind but I would not want to eat a plain egg cooked like that.) If you guys pride yourself in farm fresh eggs, why would you be afraid to serve lose eggs? Luckily the waitress was nice and gave us a poached egg which were cooked just just the way my daughter liked but I assume my parents had to pay for both dishes. I might still eat there because most of what we had was good a and they made the poached eggs the way my daughter liked but I feel that my daughter should be allowed to have fried eggs cooked the way they should cooked, yellow lose enough up dip bread in. I looked it up and theres nothing that says they are not allowed to cook a fried egg with lose yolks. Also although that egg in bread was delicous, I dont think I would order it next time because the egg was overcooked. If you use farm fresh eggs, I couldn't even tell bc the egg was cooked so much. I wouldnt mind if it was just a mistake but I was told they cant cook eggs easy when I ordered my daughters egg, and the dish I ordered said on the menue easy cooked egg.
I was happy they breakfast all day as.my daughters a picky eater. I was also.happy they gave wifi and they were very. Ice and gave me the password. I also liked that they had flavored butters to go with.the biscuits. My daughtee5 actually sat and ate. They gave my daughter s high chair...
Read moreWe visit the North Fork quite often and were hopeful that we'd found a solid breakfast spot based on all the reviews.
We've driven by this place many times and finally stopped by this morning, hoping to enjoy a nice breakfast. We knew things were off to a rocky start when we had to ask for sugar a second time after we got our coffee. The food took a while to come out and when it finally did, it was a miniscule portion, especially for the price. Also, I had ordered a biscuit on the side and had to ask for both it and the accompanying honey butter from two different servers before I was able to enjoy the meal.
The biscuits were cold and bland, I expected much better as they are the namesake of the place. I had ordered the eggs in a hole, but upon looking back at the menu, was served something else. The bread was whole grain, there were no tomatoes and the eggs were cooked with spinach. But at this point, I was too hungry to even say something. Instead I ate dry eggs and spinach on top of toast. No hole in the bread. My girlfriend's eggs benedict was decent, but for the price I would have at least expected a few greens or hash browns on the side. I don't expect to pay NYC prices and get less food here on the North Fork.
Once we were done eating, at least three servers passed our table with empty plates, empty water cups and empty "bottomless" coffee before someone came over to clear and offer us a refill. Someone served us half a cup of coffee and promptly left. Our server finally showed up with the check several minutes later and just left it for us. We both left the restaurant hungry and quite irate.
Entirely disappointing experience from start to finish. Needless to say we won't be returning and our hunt for a breakfast spot continues. Definitely do NOT recommend unless you're looking for small, mediocre food with abysmal service.
The hype is the only thing this place has...
Read moreLooks like the owner disregards the low-reviews, as Main Road Biscuit has neither improved the service attitude nor the quality and temperature of the food, or overall training, or lack of. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe new management. But, like “MV” wrote below: what happened to the Main Road Biscuit of yesterdays?” The Thursday morning manager is very nice, friendly and professional. That’s where it ends. The waitstaff, however, need customer relations training and oversight. They give an air that they are unhappy, thus unfriendly and don’t want to be bothered serving —wrong job position for them. Specifically, a young lady wearing a long ponytail braid, unfriendly and lacks congeniality; and assumed I didn’t know Spanish. When my breakfast order was served barely warm — the manager kindly offered a re-do — the Latina with the braid spoke Spanish to the cooks to redo it because it wasn’t warm enough, and then concluded with “pero ella se lo comió todo” which translates to “but she ate the whole thing” when, of course, I did not: the grits were warm and I did eat that, as I was very hungry after waiting 20 minutes for the meal. What she said was discourteous. In response to hearing that and having been served the hot breakfast by another waitstaff employee, I proceeded to speak Spanish thereafter with satisfaction and gratitude for the single purpose for her to hear me from a small distance. Yes, I understood everything you said, I thought. I will no longer dine here, though I have dined there several times last year and the year before. Perhaps they’re under new ownership or experiencing hard times, as there are items no longer available to enjoy (e.g. fine green tea). It’s no longer the Main Road Biscuit of the past. I’ll continue to frequent my trusted local Riverhead go-to for a consistently hot, scrumptious, $10 breakfast, served...
