Bagels & Bakes — Restaurant in Town of Rotterdam

Ordered an English muffin with sunny side up egg and avocado slices (like the picture on the website), and was told they aren't able to make sunny side up eggs for some reason......and wasn't given a reason. Instead, I was given an unseasoned HARD chunk of avocado that was absolutely unripe and inedible and not even sliced.

On the website, there's a picture of toast with almond butter and banana slices. Tried to order that, and they said they don't have that and have never had that, and didn't have any explanation for why it was on the website

Called to speak with someone about this and the person who took the phone call didn't seem the least bit concerned. She said, "we get what we get from the supplier; it's not our fault."

Smh and sigh. Absolutely would not recommend. After I typed this review, the owner, ToniAnne (sp?) contacted me and I couldn't have been more pleased with her response and insistence upon fixing the problem.

She explained that the customer pictures that are up may not properly represent the current menu, and she also explained (at length) the avocado issue. She then insisted that my husband and I come in and have lunch on her, and I found that to be classy and excellent customer service.

The next time we find ourselves in the area, we will make it a point to visit here for sure. There's nothing better than a top-notch customer service from a business owner who...

The food / drinks are great here, no complaints. The customer service could be better, the girls are always running around with a long line of customers most of the time and don't take the time to pay attention to the customer and what they are ordering, or double check that they were cashed out before handing them their food. I witnessed three people get there food and had to say along the lines, "wait, I haven't cashed out yet." while I was standing in line to place my order! I ordered three bagels today, just asked them to be sliced, I was told I could only have two out of three bagels sliced due to tax purposes? I was puzzled, but I said okay I will have to slice the third one myself if you won't, she walked away & continued on an order. I got into work, and found I was only given two out of three bagels all together. My suggestion is to make a price for a sliced bagel if its due to tax purposes that you can only slice two bagels per order for a customer, and also to pay a little more attention to the customer who...

I've lived in the area for the last 10 years, and only recently even found this place in the last year or two. It's great. I love the low staff turnover, love that they go on vacation, and I don't know how only stopping in once or twice a month the employees know what I am going to order, but they do.

I also really appreciated their emphasis on safety and mask wearing. I know a lot of people hated it, but there's a lot of us that really appreciate the extra care during all of this.

I love their lunch sandwiches and their breakfast sandwiches. The bagels and cream cheese are the best you'll find in the area. I have friends that will occasionally stay over, and they all say it's the best bagel north of NYC they've ever had.

Plus, it's a local non chain business. For crumudgeons like me, this stuff matters. Seeing the same faces all the time, and vacations makes you appreciate that not everyone is just out to make money.
