The restaurant offers a diverse Latin-inspired menu in a nice atmosphere with friendly and welcoming staff. Overall, I had mixed feelings about the food. We started with the crispy coconut shrimp appetizer, which was served over a thin slice of plantain. The shrimp were deeply fried—borderline overdone—but still had a good flavor. The accompanying lemongrass jalapeño sauce was very mild and lacked any noticeable jalapeño kick. For my entrée, I had the Angus skirt steak topped with a quail egg, served alongside lobster and sweet plantain Chino Latino rice, finished with a saffron lime garlic mojito sauce. The steak arrived lukewarm . Unfortunately, the sauce was quite bland, and the rice had only tiny pieces of lobster with not much flavor overall. My friend ordered the chicken stuffed with sweet plantain, goat cheese, peppers, and chorizo, served with saffron mashed potatoes and a sweet sherry sauce. She enjoyed her dish, and the portion size was generous. I’d consider returning to try other items on the menu—especially when the weather is warmer so I can enjoy the outdoor seating. The restaurant also offers the convenience of an on-site free parking lot.

This place is amazing. The interior is beautiful and so vibrant. The bathrooms were clean, as was the rest of the restaurant from what I could tell. The staff is welcoming and attentive; I don’t think any of our glasses were empty at any point throughout the dinner. And when we asked the waiter what he recommended he gave us genuine responses instead of trying to sell us the most expensive thing on the menu. He suggested the stuffed chicken which was AMAZING. I didn’t take a picture of it but I highly recommend it too. It was so moist and full of flavor! I got the lobster quesadilla and honestly I’ve never had such a delicious quesadilla before. I’ve attached a picture of that. My husband got the ravioli, which you can’t see in the picture I posted because it’s covered with delicious food. And the sauce on his plate was to die for; I was dipping my quesadilla in it. So good! Our friends got the chicken and the strip steak. And the steak literally melts in your mouth. It was an incredible experience and I have been telling other people about this place ever since we went. We will definitely be back again!

Sonora made the 2022 Westchester Magazine Best restaurants list, so my expectations were very high. I appreciated the earthy decor and attentive wait staff, and the menu's many tempting pan-Latin offerings makes this a fairly unique spot. I enjoyed my hibiscus mezquelita, sweet and smokey! The food was good but not great. Maybe we didn't order the best dishes. My Pollo Organic Renello was tasty for the first bite or two but soon became boring. My husband's Camarones y Vieras was more enjoyable. The food is rich. Was unhappy my server upsized our guacamole to a large without asking us. Tip - the guacamoles have 2 prices, apparently for large and small. Be sure to specify or they'll decide for you $21 later.) All in all, a decent meal. Not disappointed, just not living up to "Westchester's Best."

Friends took me to what WAS my favorite restaurant ~ Sonora Rest. on my bday June 13, 2023. I ordered my favorite dish that i rave to everyone about, the Vegan Paella, at my recommendation my friend ordered it too....when they brought it to the table...just one look, i could tell it was a warmed up left over ( i am a foodie & know food) this was not the fresh dish i had always encountered. Not wanting to taint the opinon of others, I ate, embarassed by every bite. The portion was also much smaller as if they were trying to stretch what was left in the OLD pot. We could barely find a brussel sprout and the dominating veggie was something orange, not the balanced dish i was accustomed to. The quinoa was ladden with some king of buttery mix as if trying to awaken days old food. Another dead give away was the dish was so hot from being microwaved that the waiter cautioned us not to touch the overheated stone ware, it smoked. We muttered through the food, i was trying to be polite and not complain but it was horrible! I called a few days later and spoke to Omar who promised a refund to my friends credit card...unfortunately, that never happened.well, i quess i won't be returning there again. Cutting corners never pay off. We work too hard for our money to be sold a substandard product...u (the restaurant)losses in the long...

Went for Valentine's Day 2015. It was packed but we had made a reservation. The table we sat out was kind of a hallway next to a patio door and an emergency exit door. You can tell they struggled to make sure there was seating for everyone and more. A few people complained that were sat at the table next to us and were moved promptly to another area. We didn't mind because it gave two options to escape in the event of a lovers quarrel turning bloody.

They offered the regular menu and a pre-fixe menu. We ordered from the pre-fixe menu. I had the duck quesadilla, my partner had the tuna tacos. For entrees I had the bacon wrapped pork loin, my partner went with roasted bass. The dessert was a share-able flan and flour-less chocolate cake with ice cream on it. The food was great but I thought it was expensive compared to the regular menu. $69 per person for the pre-fixe, where most entrees were $20-$30 and apps were $5-$15.

We ordered four specialty drinks from the bar. A chupacabra margarita, a ginger and pepper margarita, a peartree martini and a pisco sour. The margaritas were the best of the four.

We will return, but will order from the...
