Lake Ave Deli — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

I need to UPDATE this review Now with new Owners / management this place is AWESOME !!! Myself and as I can see many others had an issue with the previous owner - as you can see from my old post below.

But now I must say a very welcomed 100% improvement. The new owners and staff are extremely friendly. Food is absolutely delicious. Price is right. And I am so happy to have such a nice Deli in my St. James neighborhood.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - The Owner Joe - Short, Bald, Chubby, Goatee - is extremely Miserable and Nasty. The rest of the staff seems nice If he hates his job so much he should be in the back kitchen and not dealing with Customers. On top of it - Overpriced Breakfast doesn't even include a Coffee But it does include a tiny OJ - which tastes old and Sour. I ask for a small iced coffee and he charges me almost $5 Now that my daughter is in Kindergarten down the street I was going to make this a part of our morning routine - But I will Not Overpay and on top of it get terrible Service. My name is Steve... My son always goes to this deli for his chicken cutlet hero and he always gets me a eggs bacon and cheese hero... It's always good. Today (9/19) I went there for the first time since they reopened... I'm met a really nice gentleman along with a very nice young female worker. They were friendly welcoming and exactly what you're looking for in a small town deli friendly interaction and a good sandwich. I drove to Stony Brook Harbor and ate my roast beef hero with everything on it. It was fantastic... I noticed there are not many negative reviews about this deli and the ones that are negative seem to be old.... The newer reviews of this deli seem to be very positive. I have to give this deli two thumbs up. The gentleman and the young lady behind the counter or pleasant and the sandwich was absolutely delicious I will be back there tomorrow for lunch.. Guy behind the counter is nasty. I shouldn’t have to ask hows it going when i walk into your establishment before you do. If i am the only person in the place i shouldn’t have to wait 5 minutes to pick up a sandwich that i ordered over the phone while you give me an attitude . Maybe he was just having a bad day it happens but he’s not a pleasant person to talk to. The sandwich was good though.
