I never write reviews, but feel this one is necessary. We waited 10 minutes for the server to come over to our table. We were one of four tables in the restaurant, the closest to the kitchen, and he walked past us several times. He finally brought over menus and never asked if we wanted anything to drink. He walked away and I assumed since he didn’t take a drink order at least he was bringing back water. Nope. He finally took our drink and food order, which was two waters and a coke. We ordered one app the steak rolls and two entrees, steak sandwich and shrimp Caesar. The entrees came out and I asked where the app was and the runner/bus went back to get it. I would have preferred the app came out first, but it wasn’t a huge deal. The steak rolls were too salty as were the fries with the steak sandwich. The ketchup tasted off. The steak sandwich was just ok and the lettuce on the salad was warm and starting to wilt. I was very disappointed with the food. This was our first time to Legends and from the reviews my expectations were a little high. But the food isn’t the real reason I am writing this review it’s the service. I’ve worked in the industry as a server for over 40 years in many different types of establishments but mostly fine dining. We had to flag down the server when we were finished eating, even though he passed us every time he walked in and out of the kitchen. He never looked at us. We got boxes, packed our food and then again sat for over 10 minutes waiting for him to notice us and ask if we wanted anything else. We finally flagged him down and said we wanted the check. I asked him why he never came over after we packed our leftovers to see if we wanted the check. He said customers usually ask the server for it. I said but you never even asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. He said the desserts are on the menu. I said yeah but we don’t even have menus. I said you never refilled our water or asked if we wanted another soda. He never said he was sorry for anything only made excuses. I will admit, and I did to my friend, that there was a large table of college kids that were running him ragged. I’m seasoned enough to be able to read the room and gave him a pass on that. But He should have acknowledged us in some way when he went by our table as often as he did. We were invisible. There are so many things that I could point out he could have done differently. Maybe it comes with experience or better training. I don’t think I will be back based solely on the...
Read moreThis place has live music a few nights per week. I never heard of Legends until my friend’s band was hired to play and he invited me to come watch. I am glad he did.
The place is spotless clean with plenty of free, easy parking and plenty of seating inside and outside.
On a Friday night my wife and I were able to quickly get a seat at the bar where we were served right away.
After a round we headed outside to have dinner and watch the live music.
First we shared the fried mozzarella from the appetizer menu. It was absolutely delicious.
Then we shared the Turkey Legend sandwich off the Specials Menu. Turkey, Swiss cheese, bacon, avocado and Cole slaw on sourdough bread. Again, absolutely delicious.
As for the menu, there is truly something for everyone. Vegetarians and kids too. The bar also has a nice drink menu.
The staff was friendly, helpful and, unlike some other establishments that struggle to find help, there were plenty of folks available to provide good service.
Legends is obviously a staple in the community. How nice was it seeing families arriving only to greet other families/acquaintances who were already seated. It was as though everyone knew each other!
Legends is located near the train station and on a road that sometimes gets a little busy. Some people may find the noise irritating and should probably sit inside. But my wife and I liked the “action on the street” as it added extra liveliness to an already good vibe.
If you are visiting from out of town then this place will surely satisfy your taste palette. If you are local then this place is probably already on your shortlist of places to visit for good food, good drink and good company.
And oh, my friend’s band...
Read moreHad bought a Groupon, but also got a gift card from a friend. We went in and ordered several appetizers. The hot pretzel with dipping sauces, the crispy buffalo wings, the hot mozzarella rounds and the parmesan truffle fries. All were delicious! We sat inside as it was early evening and I thought there might be mosquitoes outside. Lots of families with kids eating. There was live music out there. The only negative thing I can say about inside was it was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak. Happy hour specials only apply if you are physically seated at the bar, which is something I'll consider next time because all our appetizers and my Corona's would've been less money, although everything was reasonably priced. All the food was good and we were full so we actually held onto our Groupon so we can go another night again..... Good place...
