I think I'd give this place zero stars if I had the option, which is a shame, because I like to see new restaurants in my hometown succeed. As previously mentioned by others, they are woefully understaffed. I ordered the maki combo, which was a little on the pricey side at $21, considering that one of the rolls is a California roll, and I don't like fake crabmeat. I asked the waiter to substitute a tuna or salmon roll for the California roll, which didn't seem to be a problem at the time. When it finally came, he told me that he was unable to substitute. I sent it back again requesting a salmon or tuna roll, and he came back almost immediately with a tuna avocado roll, which didn't seem quite right. Of course, he didn't bring the salad, and when it finally arrived it was all iceberg lettuce with one cherry tomato, and was awful. There was also no soy sauce on the table (that's a first for me at a Japanese restaurant), so I asked the waiter for some. After forever, my girlfriend went and asked the hostess, and she brought it to the table.
The first bite was all it took. The sushi was COLD, and I mean really cold, like it had been sitting around on ice for who knows how long,. That's not how maki rolls are supposed to be made. Sushi is typically served near room temperature to bring out the subtle flavors. I don't normally do this, but I sent the whole thing back, and requested the same, and oddly non spicy "Drunk Man's Noodles" my GF got, which after a ridiculous wait, never even came.
Eventually, we just cut our losses, got the check, and left. It has been a very long time since I have had an experience this bad at a restaurant, and sadly, I don't see this place lasting long unless things improve...
Read moreSo. Where do I get started. Well I guess with the positives. The food. It’s GOOD!!! Very good. But the problems with this place is the costumer service. 3 people sitting behind the sushi bar on their phones doing nothing at all. One receptionist who is very nice and one person that goes to every table and handles the sushi bar. And he is who I feel bad for because. One person just can’t do all of it. The cooks can cook but the service is very poor. At the start of my visit. All was well. But slowly things went wrong and stress was put on the one kid. He brought the wrong soda out twice and forgot half our order (3 entrées). Which we were now sitting 40 mins into our order told they “could not make” he still wanted to charge us for it though. and I don’t think it’s totally his fault. He is stressed. Overall. The cooks can’t cook (what they could cook was good) but what they can’t is way way less than expected. The service SUCKS and overall. I have not had a good night here. We did not have sushi but from the people surrounding me we could tell that they CAN NOT MAKE SUSHI!!! If you’re looking for sushi. Drive to smithtown to Tomo. They...
Read moreI scouted out this place to order from after hiking. I was already excited to see they had a parking lot and surprised to see it was right off of the kings park train station. I had ordered a spicy crab roll, spicy tuna roll, and miso soup to warm me up. The staff was friendly upon pick up and it was ready when I got there, within the estimated time. I did not see much of the restaurant upon walking in, so I cannot say much about the environment, but the front was designed nicely. My rolls were absolutely amazing and they did not lack on the filling. It may have been slightly less spicy than others I have had, but definitely had more depth in my opinion. I had ordered the soup because I saw it had enoki mushrooms, unfortunately my soup did not have them. I am not sure if it was because I asked for no tofu or seaweed, or if it was something else, but I was sad when I opened it and didn't see any. Regardless, it was very delicious protein to fill me up after my hike. I will definitely be back if I am in the area again and recommend it if anyone wants a quick dinner after getting...
