OMG this place was a gem in disguise. We brought our dog here and got greeted with more than love. They even gave him a dog bowl with water. The are very pet friendly here and love to see people with them aswell. The food was amazing. The seafood I had was incredible. The calamari was most definitely my favorite. The seats are very comfy even doe they dont look like it. It's such a beautiful place here. Your by the water (bring a sweater just in case) great atmosphere even better staff. Brianna the greeter was a sweetheart and Brittany was our server and she did an amazing job. Very attentive and friendly aswell. The bathroom was spacious and clean. They dont serve the drinks with straws so dont bother asking. The venue is an eco friendly place. Very well versed in different food to serve and very flavorful but If you have a palate that is not ready for spice make sure you say something when ordering food. Not all was spicy but we learned the hard way. All the food was still delicious. We will return again. The drinks we got were very well made. If you like strong drinks try the "High Maintenance" cocktail. They have wines and beers aswell. The inside looked very spacious and quaint at the same time. It was worth the experience. Thank you very much for a great time. My fiance and myself look forward to seeing you all again. Parking is tricky by the way. Great spot for romantic dates or family gatherings and best of all your pets can...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at Canal Cafe today at around 4:30pm that I feel needs to be addressed. My family and I came in hoping for a nice couple drinks and some bites to eat but unfortunately, the service was appalling. Our waitress, with the blonde hair, was not only rude but seemed completely uninterested in providing any kind of hospitality. From the moment we walked in, she gave us nothing but attitude and appeared irritated that we were even there. She had blonde hair.
It wasn't even a busy time, so there was no excuse for the lack of attention and professionalism. To make matters worse, we noticed her whispering to the bartender and exchanging what seemed like dismissive comments about us. When we decided to leave, her response was a simple, "Oh, okay, sorry," with no genuine remorse or concern for our experience. It was clear she didn't care at all.
This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially when it’s locals like us who keep places like this busy during the slower winter months. It's disheartening to be treated this way as a customer, and it's something that needs to be addressed. I hope this review reaches a manager who can take the necessary steps to ensure that future guests don't have to deal with such poor service.
Sadly, this experience has made us hesitant to return, and I would not recommend this place to others unless there's a change in the way customers...
Read moreYou would think picking up food from a restaurant would be quick and simple. Unfortunately, not at Canal Cafe.
We ordered several lobster rolls for pickup and was told it would take 25 minutes. We arrived to the restaurant 30 minutes after placing our order and were told our food wasn’t ready yet, totally fine. So we waited along the harbor for our food to be ready. The issues arose with the waitresses and staff. It was mentioned that they didn’t like that 3 of us came to pickup the food instead of a single person. They were annoyed we were standing around waiting. To be clear, the dock is not in the way of staff walking to take care of tables. Their unfriendly attitude and comments towards us made us feel like an annoyance to them when we were simply waiting to pickup our food. Our food took another 25 minutes to be given to us, which honestly was fine with us. When we went to pay and didn’t provide a tip (given this was takeout), the cashier said “Thanks for nothing”. That was confirmation Canal Cafe doesn’t appreciate our business so obviously none of us will be coming back. There are plenty of other lobster places around, go...
