Daphne's Westhampton — Restaurant in Town of Southampton

I am extremely disappointed with the lack of hospitality and consideration my husband and I experienced with the manager and hostess. We had googled restaurants opened and Daphnes came up. We arrived at 9:06pm and asked if we could sit at the bar and have a few drinks and appetizers. We were immediately told politely “ no” by the hostess and she said that they stopped serving food at 9pm. I explained that we looked up “ restaurants for food open now” and Daphnes was open until 11:30pm. The manager, very nicely, but firmly, explained that they were short handed and couldn’t accommodate us. We were extremely disappointed as the atmosphere was lively , people were still ordering food and the food looked delicious. I am in the hospitality industry and a small business owner. I would never turn away an opportunity to provide service that impacts and only profits everyone. I feel the owners need to be aware of what goes on that effects their bottom line. Good business should never be taken for granted. You may be begging us to dine there one...

Came here for the “lobster bake”. It was a set menu with three courses. We were seated at 7:45 and were told about an hour later, by the manager, that we are “unfortunately the only people in the restaurant that will not be having lobster tonight”. Weird way to word a mistake like that to a customer. Had she not waited until after the first 2 courses to tell us this, we would have left. She told us that they miscounted the lobster and we were the last table to be seated, therefore we will not be served lobster. She then told us that we will “obviously be getting a MASSIVE discount” for this mistake, and then brought out a dish of mashed potatoes that tasted like glue, uncooked French fries, and two lobster rolls that were clearly a day old since there weren’t even 2 lobsters to spare in the whole place. Then we receive the bill and the massive discount was 25% off JUST the day old dry lobster rolls that they gave us instead of a lobster. Could’ve at least taken a drink off the 4...

This place is not for people who want an evening of conversation and good service. Rather, it's so loud you cannot hear your friends. Worse, the service in every way was horrendous. The manager was no where to be found. Finally, the owner came over and made excuses and just about picked a fight with one of us. Strange behavior, indeed. The food, on the other hand, was just ok, French fries, not even cooked and were slimy. Sauces on the fish did not blend. $25 hamburger, only adequate. We only saw our waitress at the beginning of the meal and then not again until the end. The manager assured us that we had the best waitress and we fell into the 2% of people in the whole restaurant who had a bad experience.
