I literally wish I could leave no stars for this place. My boyfriend and I have been going to this place for years on our way out of Southampton for visits to the city or elsewhere, but now we literally just skip this place. Progressively this place has gotten worse and worse. For how long you have to wait on line (15+ mins), the bagels have gotten smaller and less fresh tasting, the coffee tastes worse and the staff have gotten lazier. They are the slowest moving group of workers I have ever encountered, they literally just glance at the line growing out the door and don't bat an eyelash or spread the cream cheese faster. Zero pep in their steps. My boyfriend and I order the same things every time we go and somehow the price changes every time from a few cents to a couple dollars, but after waiting in line for a mediocre bagle for 15 mins we just don't care enough to argue about it. But once you get to the counter and someone maybe acknowledges you to order a bagel, it takes an extra 5+ mins for them to get two bagels done. We just tried to give this place a last chance Saturday morning, and we parked - got to the door - and just turned around because the line was not moving and we would have to stand outside to wait. No thank you. We either wake up earlier and go to Sag Harbor for Bagel Bouy, who had the same size team as Goldberg's but the line is never more than a couple min wait, or we just wait till we get to manorville. Saturday my boyfriend went in and came out with bagels and a coffee in literally 2 mins. It's insane! Sorry (not sorry) for such a long rant about this, but it's just gotten more and more frustrating for he and I to the point where we felt it necessary to say something. I hope this comment and a few others I see with the same tone can maybe improve this place, it was one of our favorite stops on...
Read moreCame here for a slightly late breakfast on a Sunday morning and people were coming and going like clockwork, and after having tried it, I can see why. My girlfriend had hyped this place up to me for quite awhile and being a former western LIer, we had no Goldbergs near us, but my bagel opinions are certainly still a high benchmark. We both got the spicy hobo, a bagel sandwich with eggs, bacon, cheese and hot sauce on your bagel of choice (I went pumpernickel) and a large hot coffee. The sandwich was delicious and even in the slightly later hour, the bagel was fresh as could be, where I've been to plenty of other places around where you'd be getting slim pickings for a good one. Coffee was surprisingly good too, normally I'd just expect your run of the mill drip coffee, but their blend was flavorful and perfectly hot, an unexpected boon for these guys. The staff were quick and kind and made sure to keep things moving without being rude, a rare combination I find. The place is on the smaller side with only a few tables if you don't want to try and eat in, so be aware. Plenty of parking right in front with...
Read moreI eat here about once a week... Mostly because it's convenient to work. But, I really don't like the service, the prices or the attitude of the people. Two specific incidents inspired me to write a review.
I called to schedule a pickup.. Guy on the phone said, "We're too busy to take a phone order... come on in and stand in line." I didn't have a half hour to kill that day so I went somewhere else.
I entered the store about 10 minutes prior to closing time with my stomach set on a Reuben sandwich - a favorite. The woman behind the counter said they'd already cleaned the slicer and wouldn't make me a sandwich. I said.. but you don't close for 10 minutes. She said "sorry".
I didn't plan on getting to the restaurant near closing time (3 pm) but I did expect to get served if I was there before closing time. Just thought I'd share and I'd be curious to hear what other people expect in this situation.
I'm skipping them for...
