Ive been here many times and in the past it was one of our favorite go tos. There Is a huge difference between the last few times and July of 2023. The service was horrendous this time. There was a large wait staff and we had a 6:15 reservation so not at all busy when we arrived. Yet our waiter took 20 minutes to show up and we maybe saw him twice all night. He was completely inattentive. . After our food came we sat for half an hour with no drinks: No one refilled our empty waters and no one came to ask if we wanted a 2d round yet all our glasses were completely empty. No one came to ask how our food was or if we needed anytjing. We kept trying to get their attention but they kept scurrying around. When someone finally did come to ask if we wanted more drinks they still never refilled our empty water. Then the bus girl tried to take our plates away but we weren't done with our food and our drinks still had not come. The bill was over $300 before tip for TWO people; $367 with tip) one of us only drank coke. Price fix menu. One glass of chardonnay was $30 (and that particular bottle can be purchased for the same amount at a store...for an entire bottle). Food was pretty good but nothing special. Dessert was great. Next night we ate at a fav down the street and the bill for FOUR people was half of what it was at Jean George for TWO people. Super disappointed...

The food at this restaurant is decent, but it doesn’t live up to the standard they seem to aspire to, especially given the prices. Overall, I’d call it fairly mediocre. What really stood out, however, was the terrible service.
Our server, Fatbardh M, set the tone early when I politely asked a simple question about what he would recommend or which dishes were most popular. Instead of giving a straightforward answer, he dismissively replied that everything was different, so he didn’t know what to suggest (delivered with noticeable attitude).
The poor service continued throughout the meal. He acted as though he didn’t want to be there, and even small requests, like ordering another round of drinks, seemed to annoy him. At the end of dinner, when we asked to split the bill across four credit cards, he raised his voice and told us we should at least do two, since four wasn’t “usually allowed.” He then stormed off, returned with the bill split across four anyway, and tossed the cards on the table with the same unpleasant attitude.
It’s hard to understand how this level of service is tolerated at a place like Topping Rose. With so many great restaurants in Sag Harbor, there’s no reason to return here, and I won’t. Really disappointed with the experience at Jean George's.
The service was absolutely awful. I swear that I've had friendlier and more accommodating service at a diner when I spend $11.99 on breakfast.
It took them over 15 minutes just to take our order. First red flag.
They forgot our side dishes for the main course.
No specials! How could there possibly be no specials at this kind of restaurant?
The server was basically a mute. He didn't come to check on us once after our meal was served. I expect this kind of server at a college dive bar, not in the Hamptons when I'm spending $150 per person on dinner excluding drinks.
We told a different server that our sides were missing and they completely ignored us.
The food portions were ridiculously small. Most tasted pretty good but for the price I expected much better and I was severely disappointed ☹️
I won't be going back. This is a clear Hamptons trap where they over promise and under deliver.
The ambiance inside was also atrocious. Extremely loud, tables were way too close to each other that I could barely hear my girlfriend talk to me.
Spent $260 just to leave hungry. I won't be going back and anyone reading this should look elsewhere for a dining experience in the Hamptons within this price range. It is extremely easy to find better food in the Hamptons! Stay away....
