The Hot Spot - 5-Star Review
Stopped in with my family yesterday, and we were absolutely blown away by "The Hot Spot." We ordered three full muckplates and one half muckplate, along with some Fizz Pops. The pricing was incredibly reasonable given the generous portions and excellent quality of the food.
Quality: We tried both the red hots and cheeseburgers, and they were cooked perfectly with amazing flavor. We topped ours with onions, mustard, ketchup, and, of course, the standout meat sauce. The meat sauce was phenomenal—bold flavors with just the right heat level and a deep, spiced richness.
Sides: Our sides included tots, onion rings, sweet potato fries, and mac salad. Everything was fantastic. The mac salad deserves special mention; it wasn’t the traditional style I expected but still blew me away. The addition of sweet pickles was unexpected yet brilliant, giving it a unique and delicious flavor. I’d happily eat it again, even though it was a delightful departure from what I had in mind.
Drinks: We also loved the Fizz Pop, a local Rochester throwback. The flavors—birch beer, cream soda, Shirley Temple, and ginger ale—were nostalgic and absolutely delicious.
As a family that has been known to drive an hour to Rochester from Buffalo for a garbage plate, it’s amazing to know we now have an equally fantastic option much closer to home. The muckplates here are top-notch, and we’ll definitely be back.
The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, and the food came out fresh, hot, and delicious. “The Hot Spot” is a must-visit for anyone in or...
Read moreWhat started out as a minor snafu turned into a gracious offering from this business to make things right and we took them up on their offer. The Muck plates did not disappoint! Huge hand pressed cheese burgers, homemade mac salad, crispy seasoned tots and a deliciously original and unique meat sauce. Boom! These plates must have been about 2-3 lbs a piece! The restaurant had a nice selection of burgers, hots and chicken with enough sides to keep it simple but get the job done! It’s not a flashy place but the best food joints never are! It’s always about the quality of product coming out of the kitchen and this place nails it in the fresh and tasty department. I highly recommend giving them a shot if you are in the Brockport area. The ownership, like most, is doing everything he can to keep the doors open, serve a good product and make a living. We’ll definitely be going back for more the next time we’re in the area. With Jimmy Z’s missing from the local scene this is the place has picked up the reigns and done a pretty good job of establishing themselves as the new burger joint in town!...
Read moreOverall, not a good experience by the owner. It appears the owner is overworked and doing everything on his own. The burgers were not cooked well, meat sauce dipped on the burgers carelessly. Pretty soggy fries and owner looks like he didn’t like his job. His face was full of disgust, like he was doing it all and didn’t want to be there. If customers walk into your restaurant, smile and be professional. Treat the customers with respect and make it appear as if you want to be there. Also, be consistent with your food preparation, as customers do not want inconsistency, especially as they watch you be upset, and sloppy as you prepare their meals. That’s not a good way to show you care about your business and the customer who is...
