We went to the Burgoyne Grill because locals recommended this place. Our group of 5 was told our wait for a table would be about 30 minutes (not a problem, we didnât mind waiting), but waited 45-60 minutes before being seated (again, not a huge problem but wouldâve preferred being told this up front). We waited at our table for about 15-20 minutes before a server to even come to our table. We decided to order drinks and food at the same time so it wouldnât be such a long wait. We waited 10 minutes to get our drinks (a few sodas and bottled beers), and one was forgotten (a simple mixed drink). One of the entrees ordered was supposed to have a choice of soup or salad offered (as per the menu) but was not offered. After waiting about 45 minutes for food we asked if it would be ready soon and was told we were waiting on one dish to be completed. About 15 minutes after that the server came to our table with a mouth full of food still chewing to tell us that our food still isnât ready. 15 minutes after that our food finally came out. Most of the food was cold, including the dish that we were supposedly waiting on. The chicken parmesan had completely cold spaghetti/sauce with it, the chicken sandwich and fries was cold and the bun was so thin and falling apart, the poutine was cold and mushy with unmelted shredded cheese, the buffalo chicken salad was just unenjoyable and the grilled mushroom ragu was practically butter noodles with no flavor and a couple mushrooms on top. Altogether it took us about 2 hours from the time we were seated until the time we finished eating (which only took about 15 minutes with the quality of the food). We were not impressed and will not be eating here again. Would definitely...
Read moreWe took my Mom out for an early Birthday dinner Thursday evening (no reservation), we ended up here after another restaurant came up short on their lack of available entrees and beverages. We now live in Maryland, just outside Washington DC, but everyone in the party (of 6) was a Ticonderoga native, except for my Wife. We have all eaten here before, with good results each time, but this trip has prompted me to leave a review. First, the seating nearby the cozy woodstove, and the ambiance were both great... our server, and her assistants (we were served by a team of 3 people) worked together to provide comprehensive, well organized service, with accurate info, followed by on time drinks, appetizers, and entrees. The food was so well prepared, we asked to see the chef, who's name escapes me Sadly (he was originally from Florida), who came out and met with us. We all greeted him and showed our appreciation for his Expert meal preparation, and the accompanying service. Thank you to everyone involved for a very memorable evening. As a side bar, I am in the commercial refrigeration business, and work with many of the top restaurants in the DC area... few can offer a better all around performance. Well done...
Read moreBurgoyne Grill is the kind of place where everything is just fineâbut never quite good enough to justify the price. The portions? Adequate. The quality? Average. The prices? Too high for what you get. The service? Exceedingly sub-parâexpect slow, inattentive staff who seem to have mistaken their job for a casual hobby.
The prime rib? Decent. Not life-changing, but solid enough if you're in the mood for it. The wings? Mediocre to outright badâespecially in an area that actually has some pretty good wings elsewhere. The bar is adequate but overpriced, the kind of place where you wince at your bill but shrug it off because, well, youâre already here.
But letâs talk about the real tragedy: they used to do a pasta night, and it was excellentâgreat value, genuinely delicious. And then, like all good things, it disappeared, leaving behind a menu that feels like itâs coasting on autopilot.
That said, for a hotel restaurant, Burgoyne Grill is better than most. Compared to, say, the typical Hilton Garden Inn restaurant, this place is practically fine dining. But if you're not staying at the hotel and you've got time for a brief drive? There are probably better places to spend your money that aren't...
