The food was delicious and well prepared. The space is set up like a fastfood restaurant but there is preparation time for the food, and it is well worth the wait. My co-diner had the Chicken Shawarma and loved it... there was a lot for her usual eating experience, but there were no leftovers. We shared an appetizer of Potato Samosa. Filled pastry generally is me not liking the pastry part but seeking the flavors within and this was the same. Don't get me wrong, the pastry itself was very light and flaky like a good pastry should be, so if that's your thing, this is just right. The filling was flavorful and barely spicy, my co-diner let me have her second of two because she found it to be too spicy; she asked the gentleman who took our order if it was very spicy and he replied, "No, not too spicy." He and I agree, but if your palate is spicy-heat sensitive, take a small taste of someone else's first. On to my meal, Goat Curry! OMG! My joy at seeing such a dish being served in a "fastfood" (seriously, not really fast food) place should not be underestimated. It was obviously stewed slowly. I could taste the goat and the spices (a little kick but not too much for spice lovers), the meat practically fell off the bones, and the accompanying Naan (a type of flatbread) just blew me away! The rice was also curried and had a consistency between Western dryness and Eastern wetness. I didn't finish the rice because I had enough to eat, but be assured, I would have added it to my Goat Curry sauce to thicken/sop it up if I hadn't used my naan to sop it up. So many possibilities. We went to Alibaba Kebab thinking that it was a table service restaurant. It isn't. I hope one day that they will manage to have such a place with a real dine-in atmosphere. Until such a time Alibaba Kebab has immediately become an order ahead and pick up restaurant, a sometimes sit in restaurant, and a certainly ahead of pizza places, burger joints, fried chicken houses, etc. The only places that compare are the relatively recent Tex-Mex places in this area that serve freshly prepared foods, and for my money, even they come in in distant second to Alibaba Kebab. Go there, try it, be impressed as to what quick...
Read moreQUICK NOTE : BEST QUALITY AND BEST VALUE CHICKEN FINGER DINNER IN BUFFALO, I SAID IT. THROW THEM $15 AND JUST WATCH WHAT THEY PUT IN FRONT OF YOU. YOU'RE WELCOME.
Had the tandoori chicken wrap this time (+hot) and it was perfect. At this point I have tried most of their menu, I switch between the wraps (falafel is great, i still get it even though Im not vegetarian), the bowls, and kebab/curry family deals. The value and the quality at this place is out of this world compared to anywhere else near Buffalo. I am always looking for new spots but nothing takes me away for long. Feels like I waste money if I get a large pizza or taco's for $40 when Alibaba's is serving up WAY more food for that price piping hot. Last time I was there, the lady on the phone was very kind and patient with me. All staff work hard, food comes out perfect. Atmosphere is great -- light music or sizzling grills fill room, good seating (away from bathrooms and food traffic), and above all they keep things CLEAN. I used to work in food service for years and I have seen everything. Food prep (from what I see) and rotation here is EXCELLENT. If you like this kind of food, it might be the best in Buffalo. If you've never tried food like this, grab a chicken tandoori wrap w garlic sauce or chicken finger basket with waffle fries and cup of their white garlic sauce. I am going to write another review because I forgot to take pictures this time, but the wraps are unreal. To the employees : The respect you give the food is very...
Read moreThe only reason this gets a 3 is because the food was good. We got there around 1145 and no one was inside (we beat the lunch rush), the guy behind the register greeted us by loudly asking "what you want to order," while not even giving us a chance to look at the menu then seeming annoyed. Between my friend and I we spent over $80 and had to wait 45min for our food, zero communication as to why, and we wouldn't have eaten there had we known it would take that long. We were on our lunch hour and there was zero communication as to why it was taking so long meanwhile the two guys there were prioritizing online orders and people who got there after us were already getting their meals. I also asked to get a diet soda from the fountain, and it was out of syrup and when I asked if they were going to replace it, they said "we know" and ignored me. If they knew it was out it would have been helpful to know before I wasted money on a drink I couldn't have. No attempt to fix it or communicate. The two guys making food are also wearing open toe sandals, and there was a puddle of water right by the entryway. Seems a bit unsanitary. This place was hyped up on "step out Buffalo" and I was really...
