Pete’s Legacy Diner — Restaurant in Town of Vestal

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast after having an absolute out of this world haircut experience with Eric Ballard at E-Class Barbering Inc. located at 215 State Street, Binghamton, NY! We were going to go to our regular place- Chris' Dinner but they are closed on Mondays. Thus, we used Google Maps to review diners and narrowed our list down to three diners in the Vestal area and wound up choosing Pete's Legacy Diner. The owner, Pete immediately greeted us upon entering with a genuine smile and we were immediately seated. Their menu is simple and unique in how it is posted. Camille, our server was absolutely awesome! Camille was especially courteous, considerate, professional, pleasant, and very cheerful. She greeted us with a big smile and welcoming demeanor. Camille was happy to help and she "Wowed" us with her spectacular customer service skills and very warm personality! She took the time to explain a few things about the diner and how it operates. For breakfast we both ordered Greek Omelettes: Tomato, Spinach, and Feta Cheese with toast, homefries, and two coffees. The food was delicious and we had nothing left to take home. The coffee was even good and we had two cups and even asked about the brand. They even prepare their desserts in house which looked really good as well. We especially liked that the owner purchases a lot of products from local providers in the South Tier of New York. We now have a new diner spot to support coupled with great meals and service. It was really a pleasure to come here and have such a great and refreshing experience... Kudos to Pete and Camille!😁😀😃😄🙂👍

Monday 12/18/2023 We went to Pete's Legacy Diner for lunch. We were immediately seated by John and Heather was our server. She asked us if we wanted anything to drink and we ordered coffee. For lunch, I ordered Philly Cheese Steak with Potato Salad and my wife had a BLT. We split a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup. In addition, we ordered a bowl of Homemade Rice Pudding. Everything was absolutely delicious and both meals were prepared, portioned, cooked to perfection, and were served hot- Their Homemade Rice Pudding is exceptional!

07/01/2024 We had Camille as our server again and she is absolutely awesome! Camille was very courteous, professional, pleasant, and very cheerful. She greeted us with a big smile and welcomed us back again. She is very attentive to your table and keeps your cup of Joe 'Hot and Full!' Camille is always happy to help and she has impressive customer service skills and a super warm personality!

So upset and deeply disappointed today. My husband and I and family always come to this restaurant. Today I ordered a corn muffin. It had an old oil taste and didn’t taste like corn at all. The waitress was very nice. She offered me another kind but I decided I would just have my coffee and waited for my husband to finish his meal. When we received our bill the muffin was included. When I asked her about it she said the boss said I could speak to him. He was very Arrogant and said he was not removing it from my bill. I couldn’t believe that as a regular customer he would not remove a $2.85 item. He said that he couldn’t remove things from a bill just because Someone doesn’t like how it taste. I could understand that if I ate a portion of it but I didn’t. I told him he should be Ashamed of himself for treating a regular customer like that for $2.85. With anger he took the bill from me and told me that both our meals were on him. I told him no I didn’t need his Charity. If $2.85 meant more to him then us being a regular customer I would pay this bill. The sad thing was that because I was so upset I didn’t tip the waitress who didn’t deserve that. I told him that if he treats me this way how dose he treated his employees, who lowered their eyes and wished me a Merry Christmas. When we left we look at the bill and after all that he didn’t charge us for the corn muffin??? I hope that maybe he was having a bad day and thinks about an Apology and offer us to return. I came here once years ago with my dad (before the pandemic) and we loved it, and now finally made it back, and it was another great meal. I think I had an omelet last time, this time I had the Fried Haddock Platter. They let me sub potato salad for fries at no cost. The food was very good and the portions were generous. I especially liked all the herbs in the potato salad! For dessert this time, I had a slice of pumpkin cheesecake - this was amazing, easily rivalling cheesecake I've had at much more upscale restaurants. It had carrot cake as a crust which was really cool! My dad had the Bavarian chocolate cheesecake (layers of cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and chocolate cake) which I tasted and was also very very impressed with. I remember that I had the Rice Pudding on my last visit and it was delightful (although not as decadent as the cakes). All the tables were full when we got there (11:30 on Thursday), and there was one couple in line ahead of us, but we were seated within 5 minutes, and the food also came out quickly, so it's clear they have an efficient service system. Our waitress was very nice. Relaxed and positive atmosphere. The decor is a little different from typical diners - they have a large fish tank by the entrance and a few murals.
