jojo Bistro & Wine Bar - Webster — Restaurant in Town of Webster

Very disappointed in this restaurant. They were not overly crowded, so that cannot be used as rationale. 4 of us were seated and we ordered a bottle of wine. We asked the waitress if it was a dry or semi-dry Riesling and she told us semi-dry. First she broke the cork off in the bottle, then came back with an opened bottle and just began pouring. No taste test as an upscale restaurant normally does. She poured everyone's glass from one side of the table and the bottle kept dripping all over the table and the sides of the glasses. The wine itself was extremely sweet and not good at all.

Three of us ordered steaks. The chef apparently does not understand the rare, medium, medium-well and well done concept of cooking meat. The 3 of us that ordered steaks asked for medium-well to well. The steaks came and they were rare to raw (swimming in blood juice on the plate). They were sent back. They cooked new pieces of meat and again they came to the table rare. My husband finally said to the manager, just throw them back on the grill. They return and apparently this time they were thrown in a microwave. No taste, still not done correctly, parts of the steaks were rare and part well done and the weirdest texture I have ever experienced in my life.

The 3 of us did not eat our meals. The food was awful, with exception to the wedge salad.

While the manager did the right thing and comp the meals, the attitude was horrible. Very rude like we were the ones that caused the problem. The waitress was obviously very inexperienced in being a waitress.

We would not go back there ever again. BTW, we did calculate what the entire check would have been and left a 20% tip for what the bill should have been.

Terribly disappointing.

Our same friends went back to try JoJo's in Webster again. WOW, what a difference! There is no question that the staff they have in place now is absolutely excellent. What a refreshing difference!!!

We had a fantastic waitress, Catlin (sp) who explained everything very thoroughly and it was obvious that she knows what she is doing. We also had the manager Skyler (sp) stop over a couple of times to chat with us and she was also outstanding and a complete 180 from our last experience.

Three of us had the pork chop entree with chop salad. It was good, although I personally would have liked an apply chutney with it rather than the demi sauce. We all had the smashed potatoes and thought it could have used some seasoning as they were very bland. The fourth person had the salmon entree and raved about it and the accompanying rice/brussel sprout and squash puree, as well as, the walnut crusted salmon.

We will go back again. The personalized service, personalities and caring about the customers was outstanding by the waitress, manager and chef who personally brought the salmon to the table!!! Keep up the...

Long story short, I'm leaving one star for my wife's blackened redfish, one star for our dope jojo dough, and one star for our pleasant server. The fish dish tasted okay. It was seasoned well, but there were only there small pieces that were slightly undercooked. The real travesty was what I ordered, the chicken malinese, which was cooked perfectly but had literally zero flavor. It had a really nice crunch when bitten, but I dont even think they seasoned with salt or pepper. I was really disappointed. In addition, the chicken entree consisted of one flattened breast topped with a few mixed greens. Not enough food for a real entree. What saved the meal was the jojo dough dessert. It was by far better than our entrees and bigger than both combined....

Food was fantastic, service was sub par. I specifically asked our server if the shrimp risotto had the tails left on the shrimp because I do not want to de-tail my own shrimp, when it was brought to the table the shrimp had the tails so the server gave me incorrect information. Then half way through dinner she checked in and I asked for another cocktail and then it wasnt delivered to the table until we were already cashed out to leave so we had to sit longer so that I could finish drinking it. As a former server and bartender if she was overwhelmed she shouldve asked for help if she felt like she was in the weeds. Frustrating experience.
