I spent the last two hours of my Sunday shift daydreaming about Eggs Benedict. But, I didn't get off work til 3. Most breakfast places in the area close by then. My options were looking like IHOP or Denny's. But, wait! Castlewood to the rescue. Breakfast served all day and open til 4 on Sunday. And, what's this?! TWO options for bennies? Heck yes. Sign me up. I ordered the Florentine Benedict (with mushrooms, onions, and spinach) to-go. By the time I got there 10 minutes later, my order was just hitting the window. I'm a little leery in general of dining-in anywhere right now because of the pandemic, but hollandaise and poached eggs are best enjoyed and fresh and hot as possible. So, you better believe I sat in my car out front and woofed those beautiful bennies down. Two messy thumbs up. Would devour again.

Breakfast: There are a couple of Southern-influenced items on the menu and plenty of super sweet breakfast confectionaries. We had the turtle stuffed french toast (which was too sweet to finish, unfortunately), and the florentine benedict (which had eggs cooked through, rather than poached with a soft yolk). Both were good besides the small issues. They were nice enough to make the eggs with the english muffin on the side. I see that they're hiring for many positions, so perhaps this isn't the best measure of their capabilities. The staff were all very nice, and the restaurant is comfortable. We paid $32 for the french toast, eggs benedict, and two coffees.

Update 7/8/25 the food was very good, the place had quite a few people in there and the waitress and other staff were very polite. The waitress even came over a couple of times to refill my cup of coffee which makes a big difference with me.OLDER INFO: My wife had the mild chicken riggies & I had the beer batter fish fry with home fries and I put gravy on them & I chose broccoli. The food was good. They're open until 9pm on Fridays. Both of our waitresses were good. The only thing we didn't care for was the use of a loud vacuum cleaner for several minutes. All customers kept looking around during this time waiting for it to stop.

Let's be real here. I hate giving it 2 stars, but at this point, it's deserved.

Food is subpar. Honestly, the best thing I had there was the greens. Everything else was just plain and basic. First going in with a group of 6 and then a group of 9 the next day, none of us, but 1 person, was satisfied with the food. A couple of the dishes filled the plate, while mine and most others looked very lacking. And the salads? Forget it; just order a side salad with the meal. Which actually surprises me, because salads have a huge profit margin. And don't keep making the zucchini look like cucumbers. That deceived everyone there! Not right. Needless to say, the salads were VERY lacking and not worth the value, which is rare, because they're cheap to make, especially with basic ingredients.

Service could really use a little help. They seemed nice to the regulars, but not very helpful or useful to new guests. Sat there with my group for about 30-40 mins after getting our meal before she ever came back asking us for anything. So, some of us went without drinks and napkins for, pretty much, the whole meal. After the meal, we sat talking with coffee, but no one came to clear our tables, so we sat there for an hour or so with dirty plates and silverware in our laps as we talked. The entire time, I think we saw the waitress MAYBE 4-5 times; drink and food order, delivery of food and delivery of our bill.

Honestly, the service sucks and the subpar food isn't developing a fan base except among the few elderly that frequent the place out of habit.

Not really worth returning for anything (except...

This was my boyfriend's and my favorite place to eat. We eat here regularly. The food was amazing and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. The last three times in a row we have gone the place seems to be going downhill. Our food has been cold or undercooked. Today when we went, my wrap came out cold and my boyfriends country fried steak was completely overcooked and hard. There were only three other tables in the restaurant with guests and no reason our food should not come out piping hot and delicious. The waitress never checked back to ask us how the food was or to offer us more coffee. She also never questioned the fact that my boyfriend had literally only taken three bites of his food and left it on the plate and simply offered us boxes. She was otherwise pleasant and in no way rude to us, but there was nothing extra there suggesting she cared about our experience. My boyfriend and I have agreed to probably start looking for a new place to go. Very sad and disappointed since going to Castlewood has been "our thing" for quite some time. I really hope something changes soon. Seems like nobody there really...

Hello, I made a reservation for 11:00am for Mothers Day for 4. I arrived on time and was told there were 5 reservations ahead of me and there would be approximately 15 - 20 minute wait. I said ok, and proceeded to wait 30 minutes while several different sized groups left the restaurant. I then went back in to check on my reservation and was then told they were still working through 10:30 reservations and they were also taking walk ins without reservations!!??!!

Needless to say, this does not sit well with the customer who planned ahead, called and made a reservation and who has been already waiting 30 minutes past the reservation time and still was told I had reservations still ahead of me!!

This is a horrible set up and practice and there seemingly was no real order to anything! It looked like it was hectic and chaotic, nothing was organized, even the gals who worked there were stressed to the max and yes it was very clearly seen.

For me, this was not a pleasant...
