Utica Billiards on the Boulevard — Local services in City of Utica

The tables are in the worst condition they have been in 7 years. I have played at UB regularly since they first opened. Very recently we played on table 10. It was immediately noticeable how dirty the table was. Our hands were visibly dirty just from normal play, and the clean balls were visibly dirty after only a few racks of 9 ball. I asked for a brush and was told they didn't have a brush or vacuum for the tables. After about 10 minutes a worker brought a brush that he found. The large clouds of dust that were brushed from the table were enough to make people in the area cough and move away from the table.

Aside from the totally unacceptable filth on the table. Other tables have noticeable issues with the corner pockets and bumpers. The bumpers in the corner pockets are c shaped, meaning they are indented from play and no longer lead the ball into the pocket the way a pool table should. The bumpers on the small 7 foot table are so bouncy in some spots it is like shooting into a trampoline, while other spots are dead and create little bounce. The side pockets have trouble receiving a slowly shot ball, which I can only assume is due to a cheap refelting of the table. They will actively steer the ball away from falling into the pocket.

In my 7 years of consistent play here, I have rarely if ever seen anyone actually brush or vacuum the tables. I also can't say that I've ever seen anyone vacuum the carpet or clean the general area. The owner, Andrea, is an absentee owner. I personally see her maybe twice a YEAR, with other people making similar claims. With the current state of the tables and "billiard hall", I can only assume she doesn't care about the quality of business she is providing customers and pool players.

One of the pictures I am posting is of spider webs containing spider eggs. This is right between tables 10 and 11, in a high traffic area. How dirty the tables and pool hall are is enough to make me not want to return. I didn't even mention the lack of food, aside from frozen fried snacks, there is only more snack food consisting of chips and candy. Don't plan on getting any sort of meal here while you're playing.

P.S. The pictures don't do real justice to just how filthy the felt is on the tables. I can only assume they regularly dump cups of dust onto the table instead of vacuuming or...

I love coming here at least once a month and have never had an issue. Recently I went and encountered probably the most disrespectful staff member I’ve dealt with. I am not sure of his name but he is an older man. A buddy and I came here to play a few games and we came around an hour before closing, played our games and had a good time. For context, there was a tournament going on that night that went on past the closing time. About 2 minutes before the actual closing time and during our final game with 3 or 4 balls on the table we had the staff member approach us and ask us to pack up, we told him that we’ll be gone after the game as again we only had a few balls on the table and the tournament was going on so they would still be open, I did not see this as that big of an issue. After this, he gets extremely angry and starts yelling at us to leave immediately. I tried calmly explaining the situation to no avail as he just continued berating us and getting in our faces for not listening to him. After getting outside, we had multiple players approach us to comment on how he was way out of line. This was the first real issue I had here. The owner is kind, helpful, caring and amazing... She keeps the establishment very clean... The prices are very, very reasonable... It's a very comfortable environment and setting... The fellow patrons and regulars are kind and helpful as well...

The tables are very well maintained... There are variety in sizes of pool tables... The felt on the tables are well maintained and clean... The fellow patrons and regulars are a great group of people... They have a variety of pool leagues as well...

All in all this billiards/pool hall is an outstanding place to go and...
