Hunan Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Woodruff

A friend called me and invited me to lunch because I was in the area. They asked me to meet them at Hunan Chinese restaurant which was described as a small storefront mom and pop establishment. It took us a little while to find the location because it’s not a stand on its own building and was located quickly between two other storefront locations. You Have to step up into the front door so watch your step in and out. Ring the restaurant transforms you into what seems to be another place and time. With delightful atmosphere of an owner run restaurant is evident from the warm greetings and the care and attention put into plating even the simplest luncheon special. It's (what I assume is) a small family owned Chinese restaurant. I've eaten here 5 or 6 times, and I always get Kung Pao Chicken, and I like it spicy. In the past, it was good and had some kick to it, but the last time (several weeks ago), I swear there wasn't one chili pepper in the Kung Pao (which is supposed to be an ingredient)! I think a child could have eaten it without breaking a sweat. It was sad. I didn't say anything, but if I go back, I will ask them to spice it up, and that meal will determine if I ever go back again. Wife and I ate at the restaurant. I ordered a meal called shrimp and broccoli. The meal was brought to me by waiter,. I tasted the broccoli and at best was Luke warm. I asked if I could have it heated was taken away and brought back to my table. Still Luke warm. One more time was sent back to kitchen brought back to table. This time it was hot. I proceeded to eat and there was a strange smell. The shrimp had a off flavor and smelled bad. At which time we got up to leave as we lost our appetite from shrimp smell.
