You really have to watch the pizza at this Pizza Hut. When there is a corporate promotion going on oftentimes we have found that the toppings given at this location are very sparse. We got spinach during one promotion and literally there was one piece of spinach on each slice of an 8 slice pie. But that's not the only time that we've had this experience with this particular Pizza Hut so be warned.
UPDATE: letter sent to corporate: To Whom it May Concern,
I come from a Pizza Hut family. When I was a kid, it was always exciting when my parents would bring home Pizza Hut for dinner. Now I am 49-years-old and try to impart that same excitement to my three sons, who are 11 and 3-and-a-half (twins). But they really don’t get excited about it. Why? Because my local Pizza Hut is ruining the brand’s reputation.
When we first moved to this area, we were frustrated that the closest Pizza Hut, at 1751 East Main Street Mohegan Lake, NY, never seemed to want to honor the sales we would see on television commercials. Instead, we would have to drive the extra 20 minutes to the Pizza Hut at Fishkill Outlet Mall in Fishkill, NY, where they never had a problem honoring advertised promotions.
But we noticed, probably about a year or so ago, that the Mohegan Lake location had actually started honoring the advertised promotions. So, we started ordering from there. But we quickly learned that there was a big caveat to them honoring the advertised sales – extremely skimpy toppings. Over and over again we have given this location a chance to earn back our business and respect, but they just disappoint us again and again. As a family on a tight budget, we only order Pizza Hut when a great sale is advertised. But each time we have done this with the Mohegan Lake store, we have received pizzas that barely qualify as what we ordered. We’ve ordered spinach as a topping with a sale price and literally received one piece of spinach on each slice. Tonight we ordered two 2-topping pizzas with the $5.99 2-topping large pie sale, and received essentially two cheese pizzas. One pizza was supposed to be ham and banana peppers, and the other was supposed to be pepperoni and sausage. But what we got was basically two plain pizzas with a few pieces of pepperoni, sausage, ham, and banana peppers on them. Once again, most of the slices had one or two pieces of topping on them, an occurrence we have been experiencing repeatedly with this Pizza Hut.
Think about it this way – if you order a slice of pepperoni pizza ANYWHERE, you would be shocked if the establishment handed you a slice of cheese pizza with one piece of pepperoni on it. That’s not what a slice of pepperoni pizza is. Everyone knows this. Yet this is exactly what the Mohegan Lake location is doing, and has been doing for a while now. Today was the last straw for us, though. When an 11-year-old and two 3-year-olds don’t even get excited that we’ve brought home pizza from Pizza Hut, then we know it’s time to start getting our pizza elsewhere. It’s just so disappointing, because I know how good your product can be when it’s done right and honestly, but since there is now only the one Pizza Hut near us, it means this long family tradition will sadly have to end. Whoever owns the Mohegan Lake location may want to recalculate whether it’s better to keep customers by actually giving them the full product they paid for, or if it’s better to save a few pennies by not putting an honest amount of toppings on the pies and losing...
Read moreThis is the second time they have forgotten to include the soda to my delivery order from their app. They used doordash to deliver the order. When the dasher arrived, I asked about the missing soda. The dasher showed me the door dash receipt entered by the store which did not include the soda. I called the store and they offered a credit. I asked if they could just deliver it since this is the second time and I never got the credit they offered the first time. He said they can't deliver it. I went to the store to retrieve my 2 Liter I paid for. I also asked if i could get the 4 pack of 20oz they still owed me and they said no. The Pizza Hut representative then told me an OUTRIGHT LIE and accused the doordasher of stealing the soda two times in a row. I have driven for doordash myself, and I know that the drivers can be kicked off of the platform for falsely reported stolen items. This representative at your store lied and possibly jeopardized someone else's job because he was to incompetent to remember to add soda to an order. Let's also not forget that on their app which I ordered from, there is a $5.99 delivery fee and I added a $5.00 tip for the driver for a delivery in which I had to end up getting dressed, loading my kids into their car seats and going to the store myself, only to be lied to and still not made whole on what the store owes me. If I were to show up, stick my hands in the register and take only exactly what they owe me, I'm sure they'd have a problem with it and report theft to the police. So how is it ok for them to steal from their customers?
Update they did right by me in offering $40 in free food. Only thing was it wasn’t added to my Pizza Hut account, so there was no way to have it delivered. Went to the store and provided my phone number. They were quick, friendly and the order was correct. And as always the food was delicious. I’m fully satisfied with the way this was handled. Who doesn’t love...
Read moreFood: Awful. One pie was cold, not thoroughly cooked through, and the incorrect style (I ordered original pan and got hand-tossed instead!), and the other was deceptively priced! The other pie was tavern style, and although I repeatedly asked the cashier if the pie was $12, he refused to answer me about the price and neglected to mention that what I was referencing was an online exclusive. (All we ordered were two pies and two sodas, yet he treated it like a big order and refused to give us a breakdown, so we just had to accept the price! He even forced us to tip for takeout!)
Service: Awful. Inarticulate, slovenly and rude. I’m a person of color and I’m an immigrant. I’m still young and I'm decidedly very poor. I’ve never made even close to at or above the national average in my whole, entire life, but I’ve worked retail & food service since age 13, and I know how to take pride in my work and to respect customers! (I’ve seen tweens work harder at lemonade stands than the so-called "workers" at this "restaurant!")
Atmosphere: Disgusting! Benches were dirty and the entire place was desolate! The T.V.’s in the dining room weren’t even on! And, don’t even get me started on the exposed, adjoining restaurant that shares the same kitchen space! It’s an abandoned FroYo place—directly next door and it’s absolutely filthy and it leads directly into the waiting area!
This place either needs to be shut down or entirely restaffed (both back and front of house) with qualified workers! People who can and will actually do their jobs and do them well! I’ve never seen such an unprofessional place in my whole, entire life!
My family’s on welfare and we saved-up our hard-earned money for this night! This was our first big spend in months! We wanted this to be special! Never again! I’m contacting corporate and seeing that this place be investigated...
