What I had: Brunch (Mother's Day)
Overall Summary: Excellent, Relaxing, Fun, and worth more visits to try the daily menu.
Details:
Atmosphere: The decor is spectacular. Don't be fooled or put off by the fact that they do catering/host events. From the dark wood floors, to the exposed brick walls offset by pops of white, and a harmonious blend of wood and metal, all bathed in the right amount of lighting...It's a place where a romantic can tuck away in a quiet corner, business owners can stop in for a drink or meeting, or families dine outside under the canopy.
Staff: Top notch. The executive chef spent a good amount of time talking with me (unprompted), and everyone working there made you both feel at home, but someone special, at the same time. A rare and unique gift. not pretentious, not fake...just genuine, real care and concern that you have a great time there.
Food: Brunch was stellar. Again, I can't wait to get back and sample their menu, but everything was fresh, everything was tasty, and yeah, what can I say. I was too busy enjoying the flavors that I forgot to make mental notes of all that was good!
Drinks: TBD...But their drinks of the day and specials looked excellent and creative. More reasons to come back.
Price: I felt like it was a win win. Even for a brunch (mothers day), the price was spot on (if anything, under) for the quality of service, food, and experience.
Parking: TONS (no need to worry about finding a spot). A small parking garage next door, and a lot on the other side of the restaurant.
Give this place a shot. Or two. Or three. And have a glass of wine outside on a warm summers evening!
(and THAT's just the restaurant side of this business. I can only imagine their catering / event hosting is just...
Read moreMy boyfriend (who has a severe dairy allergy) & I went to Aneu because we heard that there was Vegan (dairy free) overnight oats. We struggle finding places that are accommodating on the island. When we went, there were several kinds/flavors of overnight oats that were labeled “V” and “VGN”. Technically either could mean Vegetarian, but vegetarian foods can have dairy which my boyfriend cannot have. As I was checking out, I asked a worker which one was vegan and she wasn’t sure, then said that she was positive the one we were purchasing was vegan. Since she wasn’t sure at first I went to go ask another worker, and they weren’t really sure either. The first worker then came up to me and said that the one she was positive was vegan, actually was not. This was a very scary situation and my boyfriend was very upset about this as he was looking forward to eating there. There also was a sign that showed how to read the labels for specific allergies yet those labels were not on the oats at all. Since I have no allergies and we drove far to try this place, I still purchased lemonade/juice/oats/French toast for myself. Everything tasted incredible and prices were great. Aneu, I would definitely suggest making sure the labels are 100% correct and easy to read for your customers and workers to keep everyone safe. Just labeling fully “vegetarian” and “vegan” makes a huge difference for people with allergies instead of “V” or “VGN”. I simply am leaving this review for others who may have an allergy and for Aneu to take extra precaution, please beware. If you do not have an allergy, then enjoy this...
Read moreI went to Aneu for the first time last Thursday and was extremely disappointed. Their prices are quite high. Only two of the five items I purchased had prices marked on them, one of which was the Chicken Noodle Soup ($5 for a small size). The other three items I purchased had no prices listed. I wasn’t even given a receipt so I could determine the actual price I was charged per item. As for the soup, it was awful. The celery was crunchy (apparently because it was undercooked), the carrots seemed to be insufficiently cooked as well (like al dente) and the chicken was very dry, tough and chewy. The only good thing I can say about it is that it had a nice flavor. I also bought the chicken salad which was extremely salty and had very little seasonings or taste. I think Rich needs to take it easy on the salt shaker! I also bought a Blueberry Muffin which wasn’t bad but nothing to brag about and a pre-prepackaged piece of Banana Chocolate Cake which was delicious! Again, I have no idea what the cost was since I was not given a receipt. I also bought a small Shepherd’s Pie (with a $14.95 price listed, but in my opinion, rather expensive considering the size) that I plan on having tonight. I am actually somewhat apprehensive to even try it! Hopefully, it will have some flavor and all the ingredients will be fully cooked!. The only reason I would ever patronize Anue again would be to get another piece of Banana...
