Tracey's Kitchen LLC — Restaurant in Trenton

I had some business in North Jersey, and wanted to get some soul food on my way home. So, I googled places and Tracey's came up and based on the reviews and the food pics I decided to try it. Glad I did! I got 2 platters and 2 extra sides........ garlic parm shrimp, with mac n cheese, green beans and candied yams, and salmon, with mac n cheese, green beans and yams. Both platters also came with rice automatically. Let me tell you .......the food was delicious! ALL OF IT! The mac and cheese was perfectly cheesey, the yams were sweet, but not overly sweet, the shrimp was delish and even the rice, which I believe was some kind of minute rice, was good. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the green beans. They were a little too peppery and also I almost chocked on a piece of the fiberous strings that are sometimes on green beans. The restaurant itself looks like a little hole in the wall joint, but the food is amazing. Another not so positive thing is the area it's in. I'm not from Trenton, but it seems to be an area that is a bit questionable. I wouldn't want to go there alone at night. That being said, if I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely go to Tracey's again to eat. Oh and it was a bit pricey......we paid $65 for 2 platters and 2 extra sides. I wouldn't go back.

1. The place does not feel clean AT ALL. It felt and was very unsanitary. The walls are stained, floors were stained, ceiling was stained, and it was dust everywhere. They need to close down for 2 days and really need to do a deep clean on the whole place.

2. The service was okay. The 2 girls and 1 woman working weren't rude but they weren't welcoming and friendly...just "doing the job" kind of thing. Nothing more and nothing less.

3. The food also could have been better. Their menu isn't a standard every day menu so I wouldn't go by the pictures of the menu. What they have out is what they have which I guess is determined by what they feel like cooking for the day. I even asked about other menu items and the woman just said they didn't have them...no we'll have them tomorrow or they ran out.

The food was also extremely over seasoned especially the greens. And the flavor of the seasonings weren't great. The turkey wings were good but were too salty. The Maccaroni and Cheese was okay but it was made with cheap materials so the texture...

Food was amazing. I am a picky eater. And a food critic but when I tell you I AM COMING BACK! I mean it. I already have in my mind if I have a house party I am going to order the smothered Turkey wings and cabbage! I have not tried everything yet but I am working on it lol. The food looks exactly like the pictures you see on the media. I traveled 40 minutes to try there food and I am not disappointed. The staff was friendly and was able to answer all my questions! I am unsure about the other reviews maybe a bad day; however they were busy and I had great friendly service.
