UPDATED VISIT A local faith-based organization wanted to meet with me to discuss a forthcoming project in the Old Trenton Neighborhood near Hanover Street. I suggested we meet at The Orchid House owner and operated by Nicole and Elijah.
I've known this couple for several years and jumped at the opportunity to introduce more of my networks to them.
Located 1 block away from Broad St. Near the Mercer County Community College's Trenton campus and across the street from the Trenton Daylight/Twilight School. The Orchid House offers meals for breakfast throughout lunch time. Various drink offerings including cold pressed fruit and vegetables blends as well as bottled water and local branded coffee.
The cozy environment and atmosphere makes The Orchid House a meeting and gathering space.
In closing I suggest you schedule some time to meet and get to know Nicole and Elijah.

Read moreA new treasure (and delicious to boot)! All aspects of this new cafe, from the decor + furnishings to the food, are grounded in the owners' commitment to Trenton, community, and sustainability. So far I have tried the ginger tea (delicious), a berry smoothie (ditto), and the seasonal gazpacho (also delicious, and so nutritious I felt like parts of me were literally being regrown through vitamins I had been missing - I would have eaten the entire pot if it was allowed!). The owners source all ingredients locally, including fruit and veg from their garden a couple blocks away, and have devoted a lot of time to perfecting and taste-testing recipes that are fresh, healthy, and delicious. I will definitely be back to try their waffles and the sandwiches etc.
The space is also great to meet friends and chill for hours. It's in a renovated building from the 1880s or so, and the interior features artistic furniture made from recycled materials and a lot of plants, plus an amazing mural by local artist Antoinette Marchfelder and work by other local artists. There's also outdoor seating in a parklet outside. If I still lived in Trenton I would be there every day...
Read moreBy sheer luck we googled 'coffee' today before heading out to our regular place and The Orchid House popped up as being brand new so decided to try it! To say the least, unreal. Barely a week old but the inside is beautiful and mature for such a new business. Lovely art and plenty of seating (with outdoor seating to come!). The owners were lovely, attentive, and proud of their place, as well they should be! We had The Orchid (spiced oat milk, lime and vanilla) which was a flavor we never knew we needed in this life and it was sooo good. We also had the Blueberry Sorrel (fresh and light and just a hint of sweetness but not tart), the sweet potato waffle (life changing. you must try it) and the turkey bacon egg and cheese. We also got a regular coffee to go and some pressed juice. I don't gush in too many reviews on here, but this is a place you need to try. The food is so good, the drinks are equally so, and the business as a whole exudes a wonderful sense of comfort and pride. This might be (don't tell the others), our new...
