One of the few places open for dining in downtown Trinidad, and you could tell right away as you walked in the door! It was at capacity, a 30 minute wait for the rest of us walking in off the very cold street... so off to the bar I went. Sat right down, tipped my cap to the mounted White Buffalo directly above me...then Shane, my Barkeep, immediately introduced himself. Darn good start... BTW, the place has two floors, a downstairs area for dining, with it's own bar, a pool table, and a dart board! Very crowded, loud and festive! It was December 21st, so to be expected. I loved that there was a table, front and center, serving a family of about 14, and hearing all the banter and sarcasm between generations! How fun! I chose the slow cooked roast with gravy and carrots, mashed potatoes, brown gravy and coleslaw. For dessert, (home cooked), warm apple crisp pie, with vanilla bean ice cream, dripping with caramel! What a great comfort meal, tasty, hot and not salty! Loved that roast...almost as much as the apple crisp!

Visited this location passing by on our way home. From reviews I thought this place was nice to come. However it did not meet the expectations of the reviews. Ordered a two meat plate Brisket, ribs, beans and fries. There was plenty of workers at the location. Before food arrived one of the female servers was mask kissing another person. Once food arrived the brisket looked pale and dry as well as it didn’t looks to have a red ring informing that it was not cooked with wood. I recommend cooking with plenty of spices so that the flavor can seep into the meat. The ribs where bathed in bbq sauce and was not fall of the bone. Beans tasted like bushes baked beans out of a can. Only sorta fresh item from my meal was the fries. Food took a while to arrive to me and was luke warm. I am not trying to intervene with your business foot traffic however it is necessary to have actual real feedback.

Fun local hot spot. Perfect vibe for our rare visit to this area of the world - feels very "mountainy". Nearly full house on a Sunday evening, lots of families and an active bar. The food was...meh. My pulled pork was pretty good, nothing special, served on a fresh roll with pickles and a side of baked beans. They offer spicy or sweet sauces, I tried both and chose sweet. Again, not bad but nothing special. My wife had their blackened shrimp, and results were what you'd expect from a smokehouse in Colorado (see picture). Flavor almost okay but very small shrimp, not really blackened but just sprinkled with that spice mix. Hard to get a good blackening on small shrimp without overcooking, they did their best. Friendly helpful service, gave me a good recommendation for a local craft beer. If we're ever through Trinidad again we'll try it, maybe stick closer to smokehouse-style dishes.

Never been to Trinidad before, but here we are. Was looking for dinner and came across this little place. The store front is deceiving, because when you walk in the front door the true utilization of space is realized. What an awesome atmosphere. From being greeted and seated, to the very satisfying menu, watching the bartender mixing drinks, and then WOW... the food arrives. The sweet tea is really close to perfect and the mixed drinks are perfect. This was not my turn to empty mixed drinks, so not first hand review. My girlfriend said they were awesome and I got to drive. The stuffed baked potato was very much to get looking with pulled pork. I got a combo platter with sliced brisket and ribs, BBQ beans and potato salad. I'm from Texas, so I'm picky about any smoked or grilled meat. The brisket was absolutely perfect with or without BBQ sauce. The ribs were really good, but at the one end of the half rack the last two ribs were drying out and tough, but I was already full from the rest of my food. We also had fried pickles to start and they were simply awesome. The staff was amazing. There was a rather loud group there, but the staff were so kind in dealing with them and trying to express their sympathy to the other patrons. Let me add this too, the price was more than fair. I expected to pay almost double what my bill was. To close this out, if you're in Trinidad and hungry, this place is well worth your time to go and enjoy. The shops around were all closed at the time of day we went, but looks like some really neat boutiques and shops. Just pay attention that if you are not looking for marijuana that you don't wander into one of the marijuana dispensaries. What a shame to have such a beautiful downtown littered with these shops....

These guys were absolutely stellar! I wish I could've stayed longer to enjoy more of their food over months, years maybe.

I am a college music student and travelling contractor from Austin, TX. I was on my way to Colorado Springs to look for work, and I stopped in Trinidad for some food and rest.

I looked around, and I found 2 different places that were closed in earlier hours than I'm used to, as in Texas, most of our restaurants close at 10PM or later.

I think it was closer to 6 or 7, and I parked my van outside after calling to ask if they allow service dogs, which they were so welcoming of my black lab, Romo, when they met him.

I ordered a salad with balsamic vinaigrette, a sweet tea, and a brisket sandwich for myself, and a hamburger for my dog. They were very timely and polite, not to mention professional. They even filled up my water jug for the road.

It was all delicious, and the folks of Trinidad I met in the smokehouse couldn't have been more hospitable, and for everybody's warmth and welcoming attitude towards my service dog and I, I am sincerely grateful.

I unfortunately had to leave because while driving off-road, my van slid in a ditch near a ravine and had to be towed to safety. I couldn't afford to stay, and the Kerrville flood's were happening near home, so I had to make it back before I got caught in...

A year later, back in town to decorate graves and see family. We took family here for dinner. Two of the three two meat dinners were wrong again. How, our orders were clear.

Our server was missing again after dropping the meal. I would have told the server the orders were wrong but she disappeared right after dropping the food. Don't know if this is a kitchen problem or the server. I know we are old and slow but clearly articulated atour orders. It's more that we had a place to sit and break bread with family.

I believe a manager or supervisor stopped by but left quickly before I could say something to her.

Memorial weekend 2023 How disappointing. All previous visits 5 star, but today. 1:30 in the afternoon in a holiday weekend. Place was not busy. We ordered, and then came the news no ribs. So we ordered alternate meats. Three of the two meat plates had the wrong sides and the dinner wasn't hot. It's not the end of the world with wrong sides. Cold bbq still bbq. Our server seemed to be missing during our 75 minute meal, so no drink refills. Didn't see her until she came to collect the tab. I guess inflation reduced serving size better than half since our last visit. There was 6 of us. $25 a person. Cold food and poor service. Should have gone for Chinese instead. We met family not...
