Let’s start here... Mike Scott and I go way back! Rented an apartment in cedar bonnet and was a bartender. My night cap was the Quelle after work! And there was mike! His kindness, attitude, and sense of humor is what helped me become the bartender I am today. I am now a manager in the restaurant business and boy do I miss bartending but can totally relate to where mike has come from and where he his now!
That being said; Mickey’s you over exceeded our expectations tonight! We’ve been to Mickey’s a lot. Only for drinks and bar food though. We finally decided for our anniversary dinner to try the full dining experience! Our waitress was fabulous! I forgot to ask her name but we’ve seen her there behind the bar before! The food.... OMG! Wow! We started with coconut shrimp and French onion soups! Both delicious but let me tell you... top 5 French onion soups we’ve ever had! Salads with our meals were amazing! Nothing plain for a complimentary salad here! Hearty and filled the plate! Next I had the chicken franchise and my boyfriend had the porterhouse steak! Now let me say I always purposely don’t finish my meal. Reasoning being... I want dessert! I also love leftovers 😂 my boyfriend however MUST finish everything on his plate. And shocking let me try his porterhouse too! Literally top 3 we’ve ever had! We’re huge into steakhouses and this was fabulous!!! I couldn’t get enough of it! The chicken franchise was also delicious! Can’t let that slide under the radar!
Lastly dessert! Had the turtle cheesecake... now I’m not going to lie cheesecake is my favorite!!! So I literally get it everywhere we go if it’s on the menu! The contrast of the cheesecake, chocolate, and caramel was to die for! It had nuts so beware anyone with a nut allergy!
And finally we showed up completely forgetting it was a Saturday night. We both work in restaurants but took off... we showed up and the place was packed! They quickly seated us and within seconds our waitress greeted us! Gave us ample time to decide on menu choices and was so kind and courteous even though she was very busy! Even the food runners were so sweet! Asking if we needed anything else before they left the table!
Fabulous service and outstanding food! Please give a round of applause to this amazing restaurant for everything they’ve been dealing with and how carefully they’ve been handling all these covid restrictions!...
Read moreI have never written a review before or sent anything back. I actually had to leave the restaurant because I went from starving to unable to eat after my experience. I myself am a hospitality professional for over 20 years and understand the trials and tribulations of running a food service business. However these offenses were egregious. We sat down and the dining area was empty. We debated for 10 minutes whether to move to the bar because the staff was huddled by the POS system, talking amongst themselves and completely ignoring us. As well as the bartenders. We weren’t bar guests but sat right next to the bar and even a smile and a hello goes a long way from any one of the 6 employees that were looking at us. No greeting at all. I ordered 2 dozen clams on the half shell to start, they were so rancid I smelled them as soon as they hit the table. Absolutely putrid, cloudy and grey. We sent them back and moved on to the crab dip appetizer which had an 8 inch piece of plastic wrap right in the middle of the dip. I felt like I was on a hidden camera tv show. I ordered a prime rib with scallops for my entree. I came there looking to take my father out, spend good money and have a good meal and I always tip above and beyond. I felt bad for the server, so I decided to stick it out and wait for the entrees. They also mentioned the kitchen was mad at the server for returning our food. Rotten, inedible food. I decided to attempt to drink the memory away of food poisoning and choking hazards and I ordered a local Pilsner. In my glass were substantially sized, fuzzy, phlegm looking substances floating in my beer. Both in the body of the beer as well as the top. It looked like a Petri dish. I’ve never seen anything like it. My beer was like a bacterial science experiment. I’ve seen some things in this business, but this was my first ever experience that made me physically ill. The pure negligence and disregard for food safety is scary. If a business is missing blatantly obvious and major violations like serving plastic and rotten food, who knows what else is going on in that walk in. I apologize for this review but I’m sure the owner and other employees work very hard to ensure things are run properly. It isn’t fair that they are losing sales and money because some staff members just don’t...
Read moreUsually good food and service and I would rate a 4.5 but today we were disappointed.
Service was slow and they seemed to pass us by two other couples that came in after us who also sat the bar were served much quicker and got thier food before we ever got our food menus which we had to ask 3 times for.
I ordered the wings and My wife the nachos and soup of the day iff the happy hour menu I also ordered the ribeye sandwich off the regular menu.
The wings and soup did come out quickly but my wings were dry and overcooked being hungry ate them my wife did like her soup.
The nachos and ribeye seemed to take forever and when we were just about to cancel that order when they arrived. My wife immediately noticed hallopanos on hers nachos that wasn't noted on the happy hour menu so the bartender offered her to have them removed saying it wont take long not wanting someone's fingers in her nachos she decided just to send them back.
When I bit into my ribeye sandwich it was also overcooked and like shoe leather with a slight refrigerated taste my wife also finished her drink and put it on the bar figured the bartender would ask if she wanted another but it sat there for about 10 minutes befoe he saw it and before I could point out my bad meal he just took the glass and walked away
At that point I flagged him down and told him about my wings and sandwich which only had 2 bites out of it! he did apologized stating they hired new cooks took my steak away didn't asked if I wanted something else or if my wife wanted another drink.
At that pont I just asked for our bill.
They did remove the Ribeye and nachos from the bill but not the wings which I somewhat understand since I did eat them.
I will say At no point was he rude or seemed annoyed and we will go thier again since its one of the restaurants in the area we like. Hopefully this was just a bad day not a sign of things to come
I will update...
